FAQs about hotels in Bucharest

Where Modern Meets Old

A fascinating mix of old and new, Bucharest is one of those cities where you can find a futuristic structure of glass and steel next to an old church, separated by a Communist-style massive edifice. Not overwhelmed by its dark past, the city is now turning its optimistic face towards the West.

Undergoing constant modernisation processes, the city continually changes and new modern structures pop up in the city centre and beyond. Great examples are the stunning Basarab Bridge, Europe’s widest cable-stayed bridge, and the City Gate Towers.

Whilst admiring the new, don’t miss out on the old classics, like the Parliament Palace, the world’s second largest building, with over 3100 rooms and impressive marble interiors covering 330,000 m². Make sure you admire the view from Nicolae Ceauşescu's balcony!

To fully appreciate the city’s long history, from Vlad the Impaler (aka Dracula) to the ’89 revolution, the city offers free guided walking tours, giving you a great opportunity to discover all the city’s secrets. And spot all the best shopping venues!

Before you land at Bucharest Airport, just 18 km from the city centre, make sure you check what Booking.com has to offer: from hotels to apartments, just a few clicks away!

I came back to visit after a seven years hiatus.

I came back to visit after a seven years hiatus. Bucharest changed a lot, it is now a true European capital city. Very modern in many ways, and it has an interesting mixture of old and new vibe. Don’t plan to drive, use the extensive metro (mostly underground system), as surface transportation can be a challenge. I took a few trips down memory lane, to visit university buildings (gorgeous architecture, mini-Paris like), also some old communist apartment buildings - easy to skip that if you are not interested. The parks are beautiful even in November! The food is excellent, and the people are friendly. If you get a chance to be invited to a family or friends gathering, you would be in for a treat! We had grilled octopus at Pata Negra Restaurant - cooked really well, and the atmosphere was lovely. Ryan’s Pub in Piața Amzei was excellent for meeting friends - nice appetizer choices (Romanian vegetarian oriental salad was yummy), friendly staff and comfortable setting.

Bucharest alone isn't worth more than two and a half days at most. That's without considering the thermal baths and the tour of the castles and Brasov. But be warned, the people are anything but friendly; they're very defensive, and I felt the customer service was generally quite poor.

What an amazing, beautiful city.

What an amazing, beautiful city. I took my teenage son on our very first trip together and had the time of our lives. Bucharest has everything you need. The locals were so friendly, helpful, kind, generous. The sights were something to behold, stunning!! The food is the best cuisine i have ever tried!! First time trying Romanianian food i recommend the traditional stew and the Mattitei dishes. The travel around the city was easy, cheap, i recommend the metro services.

Not a lot going on, old town has nice bars/restaurants, unfortunately dotted among them are strip clubs and 'massage parlours'. Outside of them few streets, not much to do. And its a 3 hour coach ride to Draculas Castle, the only reason I went to bucharest.

Bucharest is the city I grew up in.

Bucharest is the city I grew up in. So saying that, I believe it is one of the best places to visit on your own or with your mates. Plenty of attractions and places to go out, visit or just relax in. 5*

The Thermae Spa was excellent. Best to book ahead midweek.

The Thermae Spa was excellent. Best to book ahead midweek. It was easy to take the bus back to Bucharest. Note that museums, galleries etc typically are closed Monday and Tuesday. Metro and buses are easy to use. We stayed 2 days in Braşov to visit the Castles Bran and Peles.

Excellent as usual. This is the best boutique hotel from Bucharest very near by the Revolution Square ( 2 min) and The Old Town( 10 min walking). Even Prince Napoleon ( Plon Plon) stayed here. Great SPA area and amazing breakfast. Rooms are much larger than others and very clean, beds are very confortable especially after a long day and the staff is very friendly. This why I love to offer to my clients the best services. I highly reccomend it. Vip Travel Romania

Fantastic localization (good communication to Bucharest Airport - bus #100), close to Old Town and metro. Easy and fast check-in/check-out. Friendly crew. Delicious breakfast. Excellent Wi-Fi connection. Room was cosy, comfy and silent with all needs facilities (include fridge). In area many restaurants. Mainly attractions in short distance from hotel ca. 30 mins walk ie. Parliament. I recommended this hotel everyone for visit in Bucharest! :-)

The apartment looks exactly as in the pics - clean, chic, modern, with all the utilities/amenities one might need. One minute walk from Grand Hotel Bucharest, (for anyone having a conference there), and also very close to Old Town and Calea Victoriei by walking. The host is very kind and prompt to respond to any questions / inquiries. I will definitely return to this great housing. Thank you!

Excellent location smack bang in the centre of Bucharest, 100m from the old town on Calea Victoriei. It is not really an apartment as the kitchen is just a bench with a microwave. It is a hotel room, like a 4 star hotel but excellent value for money, although this might have been because of the time of year (Nov).

Good hotel right on the edge of the old town of Bucharest. Comfortable beds. Get a balcony room if you can - the third floor ones are best. Excellent and helpful staff.
