The town is cute and clean.

The town is cute and clean. I’ve spent of my time in the castle/old town. If you like history, you should definitely visit. The walls of this fortified castle have witnessed an incredible amount of history starting with the Roman times. Alba Iulia played a big role in Europe’s path towards democracy.

Fascinating place, very symbolic to the Romanian people, though Hungarians may have different thouths. Lots of fascinating views in the citadel. But also the surroundings are worth while. Recommended strongly!

One of my favourite towns in Transylnavia.

One of my favourite towns in Transylnavia. A great place for a 2-3 day stay. I'm usually there for a music event in the Alba Carolina but the city is also great because it's relatively close to other splendid places like Sibiu and Cluj. Good cafes, and restaurants all around.

Apart from the citadel (which is superb) there ain't much to do in Alba Iulia. There are several restaurants with high quality food, some quiet streets nearby but that is pretty much all. However, there are many, many other cool objectives around (it is within an hour's drive from Sibiu, Deva, Hunedoara, and other cool locations) so it can be considered as a "base" for visiting western Transylvania.

The citadel is basically half of the city, so besides that...

The citadel is basically half of the city, so besides that there are not many other attractions. There is a museum, which was closed when we tried to go, but not a problem for us, did not wanted to see it badly. Great places to eat, at an acceptable price. People are kind and if you find a day withouth many tourists, you are in luck to be albe to check a lot of details of the citadel.

We were impressed by the greatness of the walls, the Coronation Cathedral and the Church of St. Michael. Inside the Alba Carolina fortress, museums can be visited, concerts are held and festivals take place periodically. You can walk among the impressive walls of the fortress either on foot or with a rented bicycle.

Confy and cozy apartment with a useful kitchen (all basic items, including washing machine and fridge). Anything you need, at just few minutes, walking distance from the spot. At bottom of the building, you'll find a 24/7 pharmacy. For those coming by car, just install the Alba Iulia parking app, follow instructions and search for a nearby parking spot. Enjoy your stay !

Alba Iulia is the kind of city where, right next to busy streets and concrete blocks, quiet, charming streets lined with houses with gardens have been preserved, almost like in the countryside. It is in such a relaxing place that this charming guesthouse is located, an oasis of peace and relaxation. Very friendly and hospitable hosts, generous homemade breakfasts. It's hard not to like this place.
