Sines was quiet when we visited, and I would guess it only gets small numbers of tourists. It has a lovely beach with fishing boats on one side of the bay/harbour and heading South, along the coast is industrial/oil refinery. You don't really see this from the town but I think this is why there are fewer visitors than would otherwise be expected of this town with the castle overlooking the crescent beach. A pleasant, quiet town. We ate at Merceara27 and it was great, with live music.

Sines is a great starting spot to explore both the super-long pretty much unbroken beach to the north that goes all the way to Troia, and the small pictoresque "cove" beaches to the south of Sines. The town is a bit rugged, and definitely not a fancy place, but so much more authentic for it. I guess it's pretty far down the perfect-spot tourist ladder and that's frankly absolutely great.

The actual town was quite nice but the area is very industrial so vast container vessels dominated the beach/sea view. There was also an enormous power station....neither of these were visible on the hotel website photos.

By the beach, peaceful and one of the best service we could ask for. We requested our vegetarian meals and they went out of their way to accommodate, they kept asking for our suggestions, the chef went out to the store to find something to prepare for us.. We extended our stay as we were very pleased with the hotel, its service and excellent location. Sines is a lovely small town, a good break during a whirlwind 3 weeks. Run by locals which is a big plus and they would relate stories about the beautiful place.

The view for our hotel room. was fantastic. the price point of our hotel along with the accommodations were very nice. The hotel wifi was spotty. Hotel staff were very friendly. The hotel does not offer parking, so it can be a challenge to find a parking spot near the hotel. I would recommend staying in Sines as an overnight stop at most.

I loved Sines; it's the kind of calm city I like to be in because I felt relaxed and at peace without any problems, and there was always someone to help me when I needed it. And it was there that, for me, one of the greatest and bravest Portuguese of all time was born: Vasco da Gama.

Breakfast was plentiful and varied. While nothing was cooked to order, there were chafing dishes of scrambled eggs and bacon. Plenty of fruit, breads, cheese and meats, and cereals. The staff were very kind. The hotel is located right around the corner from a bunch of restaurants and at least two markets. The seaside is just a short walk further.
