For our first trip to Portugal, we were looking for something truly special—and we found it. This place is a hidden gem at the end of a dirt road, tucked away among orange trees, with just seven rooms and the warmest hospitality you can imagine. Calling it a hotel doesn’t quite do it justice. It feels far more intimate and personal, like a secluded retreat. We stayed for two nights but easily could have stayed much longer. Everything—from the food to the service, the atmosphere to the facilities—contributes to a unique sense of comfort and belonging that’s hard to find elsewhere. Despite having only a few rooms, the property is spacious and beautifully designed, with two pools and a cozy outdoor area offering stunning views. It felt incredibly private; at times we barely saw other guests, making us wonder how such a peaceful experience was even possible. A heartfelt thank-you to Vera and Antonio, who have been with the property for years and are truly exceptional. Their kindness and care made our stay unforgettable. We’ll absolutely be back.

Everything about the place was great. It felt like being in history. While I could go on and on about this place, a few key notes for fellow travellers: Location - About 15 mins away from the centre and a nice drive. Free parking on site. While driving towards O Conventinho, it might feel like a dead end, however trust google maps. Rooms: Very well kept. A/C , Bathrooms, water pressure all top notch. Mattresses were great, and we had the best sleep of our trip. Breakfast: Hands down one of the best breakfasts I've had. People: Very friendly and helpful staff. Complementary bottle of wine at check-in was an especially nice touch. It genuinely felt that going above and beyond was their top priority.

Our flights had been delayed, then we had to negotiate an off-site airport car rental, so we only arrived around 19h30 but this was an easy and short drive from Lisbon for our first night in Portugal – perfect start to our trip. We stopped at a supermarket just outside Montemor-o-Novo for a few essential provisions (Breakfast mostly). On arrival, we gave Gertrude a call and she was there to show us in within a minute. Our room was well appointed with modern finishes. The shared area provided a lounge area with large TV, a kitchen and a dining area. We asked Gertrude about a local taverna or restaurant (Tasqhinua) and within a minute, she had a table booked at Tasqhinua Ai Ai (A must do!!!). We met John and Lizzie from Oz at the accommodation and suggested they join us and we all took a stroll into the village for supper. The village was very authentic and had an old communal wash-house. Next day, we had a simple breakfast before heading off. We would be very happy to recommend Girassol for longer stays, there’s a lot of attractions close by. The accommodation is extremely comfortable and there is even a swimming pool.

A beautifully renovated manor house in the center of Èvora. 15 rooms big, this boutique hotel gave us a very cosy , comfortable stay. The staff was absolutely marvellous, went out of their way to assist . A Hotel we would definitely like to visit again. The service was excellent. Even the fridge contained complimentary drinks. Fresh water bottles were renewed everyday.
