It was the best stay we had. Everything was perfect 😍 The house are fully furnished, there were more than we expected, a lot details which we found at the house did our stay comfortable. Very clean, tidy, and well equipped and maintained. It is located in a quiet beautiful location, with great privacy. The property is easily reachable by car from Funchal and it is perfectly located from many attractions. The property is run by Aqua Natura Bay hotel, which is a short distance from the property, if you need to have breakfast or any other meal. The staff were very helpful, approachable and friendly. Porto Moniz itself is quite a lovely, charming town with and most locals we interacted with were warm and friendly.

Stunning scenery. Great for hiking. Weather is changeable and was cooler than UK at the time we visited (April into May), so take a range of clothing in case of cooler days. Jeep trips to hiking trails are a great idea. you get to see places you wouldn't stumble upon left to your own devices. Overall a rally nice spring break in stunning surroundings. Just let down by poor customer service in some of the eateries.

We stopped at Fanal forest on the way to Porto Moniz. We swam in the pools upon arrival. We were fortunate to have a beautiful sunny day in the winter which made it ideal for swimming and walking around.

Morning coffee and cake at the little bar outside the entrance to the bigger supermarket. Exploring the upper town and climbing the winding road up the hill for great views. Sitting on a bollard in the harbour watching old men fishing, people messing about on boats, schools of fish in the deep and very clear water, even having a harbour porpoise playing near where I was sitting. Exploring the natural bathing pools at the eastern end of the promenade, swimming with schools of fish keeping you company and then sitting with a beer in the sun at the cafe nearby.

Porto Moniz is a very pretty, quiet location with outdoor natural swimming pools. The hotel is on the coast with some lovely views from the terrace. They provide a free ticket each day for entry into the natural pools (if you fancy a bracing dip!).
