There are so many choices for dining all within walking...
There are so many choices for dining all within walking distance. A bus stop for a couple of local bus routes is just steps away. Venture up the side streets away from the harbor for some hole in the wall eateries and interesting shops. It is a very safe place to vacation. Mercado do Peixe has excellent seafood and desserts. There's even an Irish pub, Ned Kelly's if you prefer your beer on the dark side! Renting bikes to enjoy the bikeway along the water is a great idea! Be aware that the bikepath ends at a few spots and you need to share the narrow roads with cars. Well worth it to be able to explore more. A rental car or jeep tours are essential to see everything on the island. Next time, I would plan more time in the Furnas area, so much natural beauty wherever you look.AAnonymous - 10Scored 10

Out dated, many poor restaurants barely qualifying as Portuguese in nature. A lot of restaurants provided poor cooing skills ( i am a retired Executive chef of 40+ YEARS) Corrupt ATM machines, just like all over the EU, Tourist predators. Car rentals very cheap, however they don't recognize 3rd and 4th party Insurance...you damage your car you pay for all damages on the spot! Stores boring, very few pastry shops..only saw one. A very nice city with very friendly locals. I enjoyed every bit of the city. It was easy to plan an easy city hike in a day to see all the good spots. I would however recommend visiting outside of the peak season of tourists just to have a more relaxed experience of the city without the crowd and the spike in prices. and also, they mean it when they say it's a city where you experience all 4 seasons in a day XDPriscillaPortugal - 10Scored 10

So enjoyed the whole experience. Natives are friendly and most speak good English. Among many other languages. Prices are so reasonable - streets are clean, always ! No garbage thrown anywhere except in the appropriate receptacles which are located conveniently throughout. Lovely and relaxing place

Very relaxed, chilly vibe. Weather changes quickly with fresh blowing air and quite good prices in restaurants. The one and only minus is for transport which is cheap but not very frequent and reliable, ideally rent some kind of vehicle.

Many thanks to the owner of the hotel, he is very friendly and will answer any question. Separately, it should be noted what a well-groomed area around the house, perfectly trimmed lawn, beautiful palm trees. We had the same breakfast every day, but it was enough to eat in the morning and take a snack for a walk. We are very satisfied with the comfort and price.

It started with a very friendly and helpful receptionist, João. The room is good size, clean and very modern, and the towels are very high quality (usually a good indicator for the quality of the hotel), bed is comfortable. The room view (with window to the floor) is amazing. The breakfasts are superb. The hotel has a great spa facility. The taxi ride from airport is less than15 minute. Most importantly, one can feel the hotel and the staff trying their best to be a top quality hotel.

Definitely the best one!! The room and the hostel was very clean and the staff helpful and kind. Perfect location with sea view rooms and just few meters from a panoramic point of Ponta Delgada and a mini market. It's only 30 minutes walking from the airport and 15 from the city centre, awesome! I had an amazing stay here and made some travel friends too. Paulo is every solo traveler’s dream. He knows the island by heart and he cares for his guests deeply. He is the BEST guidance around what to do on the island given aspects like hikes, unknown places, weather, price, etc. The hostel offers airport pick up and car rental too.
