Our host, Andre, was exceptional. Polite, helpful and always available. Do not be put off by the external appearance of the building, nor the entry area, both of which are uninviting but shared with the rest of the building. Once you at at the hotel -walk up one flight of stairs at the rear- the hotel itself is modern, minimalistic and pleasant to occupy. Breakfast was also more than adequate and Andre provided me with GF bread rolls. Many thanks.

The VIEW! The garden with an orange tree to make juice. Comfortable beds. Large and we'll equipped kitchen. Owner made port and red wine. Pellet fired water heating system. The friendly owners of the market across the street who opened the store for us during their dinner. Our host Margarida met us at the door and showed us our rooms while explaining everything we needed to know about our stay. The large bedrooms had stunning views, soft beds and big toilet/showers. Every morning the breakfast buffet offered a variety of fresh food with local and homemade treats. Margarida would chat with us and the other guests, offering ideas and suggestions for places to see, eat and things to experience. The grounds are beautiful with flowers, fruit trees, pools and terraces. Luis hosted a fun and insightful tour and wine tasting of his own products, something I will recommend experiencing. The Casa is located peacefully (sounds from the highway were minimal) and the Douro valley itself offers so many stunning views. An amazing place to slow down and truly relax. During our stay my dad lost his credit card and the staff managed to locate it at a nearby town and mailed it home to us. While in Portugal we stayed in four places, and Casa Do Romezal was by far the best. My parents and I would love to return and will warmly recommend it to friends and family :) Plus they have the sweetest cats (from a dog person)

On the river and so a nice setting.

On the river and so a nice setting. Useful base for exploring the Douro valley. The Douro museum is excellent. A range of places to stay and plenty of restaurants and good wine tasting opportunities. Aneto is very good. Good for the Linho do Douro - the train trip upstream is beautiful. Good road connections to other places.

The ultimate best vineyard we visited was Gueda (Vilarinho dos freires) both in terms of port wine and experience. Luís serves a plate of appetizers along with the wine and port. His portions are the most generous we had. To plan a visit, send an email through their website and Luís will answer instantly. He can provide the phone number of an excellent taxi driver (Antonio). Luís is very entertaining and enthusiastic about his art. He takes you in the middle of the vineyard (a very short walk) and to the tasting room. It’s the best experience we had in Régua. :)

The area is beautiful with friendly people and very good restaurants. Plenty of places to stay but highly recommend Casa da Azenha. They make you feel like family. The wineries in the area are full so make sure you make reservations. It's worth the trip

Peso de Regua was ok but it seemed like a place of missed...

Peso de Regua was ok but it seemed like a place of missed opportunities. So many places where there could have been really lovely restaurants and bars overlooking the river. We did go to a fantastic local restaurant called Restaurante Vila Douro Regua above the town and a 15 min walk from the Casa de Sao Domingos.

Our stay at Casa do Romezal was a highlight of our trip to Portugal that Jane and I will always treasure. Breakfast was sensational. We loved Margarida's homemade pastries and breads, freshly squeezed juice, and the local cheeses and hams at our breakfast. Simply sensational. Don't miss the vineyard tour and wine tasting with Luis! Margarida and Luis made everything about our stay absolutely perfect. We will be placing an order for wine very soon. We look forward to seeing you if you are ever in the United States.

A simple continental breakfast was provided, but the breads were freshly baked every morning. The location was peaceful and spectacular, surrounded by the grape fields of a working winery. We were provided with bottle of their wine upon arrival (which we found quite good). The drive to Peso da Regua is scenic and passes through a number of very pretty villages. We experienced a minor mixup with the assigned apartment, which was easily and quickly clarified with no stress for us.

We had an amazing stay! The place was beautiful, with clean and spacious rooms that felt really comfortable. The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel right at home. A well equipped and clean appartman(house), good base for visiting the valley of Douro, Our hosts (Joana and Marco) made a great job, the way they communicating (friendly, polite and quickly) with us impressed me.
