On the hottest day 38C, we arrived early and Isabel kindly allowed us to check in early. Much appreciated. The accommodation was 💯 spotless!! As hikers we appreciated the kettle, fridge and washing line with pegs on the balcony.

The place is on a wilderness which is great. Close to the nature and also close to little village with some cafe places. Wi-fi works great. Great, helpful owner. In some comments there was an info about the short bed - the bed is completely normal, suitable for a 1,9m person ;)

The hospitality of Fina, Victor and their dochers, they are truly amazing! The location and tranquility. Good breakfast with own products like: wild honing, eggs, chees, fruit. We had couple of time delicious meals (authentic flavours) and very nice vno Verde for a very fair price From there we visited gorgeous beaches and towns, like Porto Covo, Vila Nova Milfones, etc. We will definitely come back!

We booked a room for 3 people for 1 night to visit a friend in São Martinho das Amoreiras. Because we were there to see a friend 30mins away we did not spend much time in the room, but it was very comfortable and we would have liked to stay longer if our plans had been different. The room we were given had a large bed in the main area (possibly a Queen-sized?) and 2 single beds in a mezzanine. This suited us extremely well. The wind and rain had been lashing all day so it was cold outside, but lovely and cosy indoors. The bathroom is well fitted and there is a kettle and fridge in the main room. The property is quite big with spaces to walk and some sheep to say hello to - we did not get to walk around fully, but hopefully we'll be able to visit again in future!

I don’t expect all hotels to be accessible for the elderly...

I don’t expect all hotels to be accessible for the elderly or disabled but I do believe booking.com should clearly indicate when a facility is NOT suitable for us. The photos and description of Casa da Umbria were accurate but didn’t tell the whole truth. I can normally make it up the 13-15 stairs to reach a first floor walk-up especially if there’s a good handrail. I didn’t expect to have to climb steep cobblestone walkways followed by 34 steps without a handrail ending in a death-defying 90 degree spiral-type turn to get to the front door. Then there were all the other defects noted in my review. The hostess prepared a wonderful breakfast and helped us schedule a taxi and bus to our next destination but she became very defensive when I mentioned the stairs so I shut up and didn’t even try to suggest anything else. I can’t say anything for or against Odemira in general because I was essentially trapped in our room until we left.

The guesthouse is spacious, very clean, and well-decorated. The rooms are bright, and the bathroom is spotless. The breakfast is complete and beautifully presented. Claudia is lovely, always smiling, and responds quickly to messages. In Odemira, the walk along the river is also very charming.
