Very nice property Scenic views Peace and quiet, countryside We had the swimming pool just for ourselves Really welcoming and nice people Very good breakfast If you want to be in the city or near restaurants, this is not the place for you. You need to drive 7 km to nearest restaurant and around 15 km to Mertola I actually loved it that was almost in the middle of nowhere :) I highly recommend to those who want to step out of the city’s fast pace.

Fantastic accomodation with all the amenities available that one needs in order to feel at home, having the possibility to cook, rest etc. There were extra blankets, pillows and sheets, for in case we were to get cold (but the house is well isolated, so it was a pleasant temperature.) The place was very clean, we couldn't have asked for more. Additionally, the host Ana was super welcoming, providing tips for the area, what to do and even showed us around in the neighbouring village. She also made sure to be available for any question we might have. The location of Casa das Flores is amazing, completely remote surrounded by nature, with spectacular views. The village is adorable and so peaceful that you always hear birds, you see pets walking around by themselves... very cozy. By car it takes less than 10 minutes to be in Mertola, which is a little bigger and also offers a lot for sightseeing, restaurants etc.

Lovely place, lovely owners. The food in the restaurant is amazing and the local white wine is a must! We had a lovely spread waiting for us when we arrived after midnight (late flight, enormous queues at Sixt). Thank you for your hospitality and your care! Mértola itself is a little gem! Interesting, authentic town/village, not touristy, but has plenty or restaurants. Many hikes and great bird watching, in the national park ,many rarities! 20 mins drive away is probably one of the best beaches in Portugal, on the Albufeira Tapada Grande if you like inland,quiet beaches.

Quiet town, not a place for retail therapy.

Quiet town, not a place for retail therapy. Ideal centre for visiting the National Park for birdwatching and hiking. Castle, church and Islamic ruins well worth a visit. Lots of restaurants to choose from, all were good value for money and welcoming. We especially enjoyed the Ciga restaurant. Boat trips are available on the river.

Perfect area to roam around for a couple of days. Hiking trails. Museums. Restaurants. We drove around the beautiful area. We stayed for a weekend and had plenty of things to do and good restaurants.

Mértola is an ancient town, dating back to at least Roman...

Mértola is an ancient town, dating back to at least Roman times, full of interesting history, well worth reading up on by those interested. The castle and old church are open to the public and well worth a visit. It has its own charm, full of restaurants, many with traditional cuisine and really good value. The surrounding countryside is a mix of steppe grasslands, woodland and some fascinating rocky hills and gorges. I have a great interest in wildlife and in this area there are a number of rare birds, such as Great and Little Bustards, which can be seen in the steppe areas, especially early in the mornings. I was lucky to get some photos of the Great Bustard, see below. There are also Spanish Imperial Eagles breeding here, one of the rarest eagles in Europe and the rare Lesser Kestrel can be seen flying around the castle in the town.

Beautiful small city, breathtaking views, friendly people, good fairly priced food. We stayed at Alojamento Oasis in a perfect selfcatering room, with view over the Guadiana river. All for 20 euros per night!

Lovely location next to the River Guadiana Some rooms have a rear terrace which overlook the River and part of the town. Peaceful, tranquil. Parking available down the hill behind Hotel Museu next door which has the same owners. (Parking outside on the road is also an option but on a cobbled hill which is quite narrow) Good location for exploring the town and the ancient castle which towers above. Nice outside drinking area which offers drinks and snacks throughout the day. Hotel is signed as you you get into town.

Perfect spot in Mértola, close to river and to main sights. Pool was invaluable in the very hot weather we had. Mértola is beautiful. We took a nice boat trip (1 hour) organized by the hotel. Some perfect restaurants nearby.

this was a scam booking - this hotel ceased to exist 3 years ago , the new owner was fully booked and was hlpful - but he was fully booked already - so we had to find alternative accomadation
