Thanks to her, our canceled flight turned from a nightmare into a well-organized, unplanned day. Thanks to this amazing owner, who was more than willing to help us with pickup and a late-night transfer from the airport, we were finally able to relax and handle everything with a clear mind. Thank you for your willingness, hospitality, and kindness in doing absolutely everything for us—especially while traveling with children and under the difficult circumstances that arose. Daniela was fantastic, easy to contact and went out of her way to help us. She also provided a homely environment with great beds and a spotlessly clean house. The location in Machico is great close to several walks and only a short ride to Funchal or the airport.

Machico is a very pleasant place to stay in Madeira. It’s relatively quiet compared to Funchal, but it is nice and peaceful. It has one of the best sandy beaches on the island, it has a nice town centre with plenty of bars restaurants and cafes. For anyone who likes walking, there are many hiking trails to discover close by.

Machico resort is not for the night clubbing holiday maker,...

Machico resort is not for the night clubbing holiday maker, It was however for us a slow paced setting with a good selection of restaurants and supermarkets with walking routes for those who wish. The harbour offered boat trips, whale watching and surf lessons, the latter was enjoyed from the safety of a dry vantage point. Local bus into Funchal for 2-60 euro single was 50 mins away which opens up further opportunities for excursions and sight seeing like the red or yellow hop on hop off bus tours which operate from the promenade where the ticket is valid for 24 hours allowing to to spend time where the mood takes. Weather forecasting in resort will not take into account the drizzle from the mountains with can add a cooling break from the sunshine and occasional rain. Enjoy.

A nice area to stay outside Funchal where I find it still preserves. We stayed in the best Modern Guesthouse, ate local foods in O’Gala and Massa Mia. They have two beaches. The rocky area and the sand area.

Nice small village nearby 2 beaches with all the necessary shops (supermarkets) and several restaurants. Away from the buzzling city. 😄 But by car nearby some touristic hotspots like Santa Cruz, Funchal, Cristo Rei, Santana houses etc.

Machico was good for food shopping, restaurants, and bars. We didn't use the beach, but saw lots of people swimming. The town is handy for some great walks on the east end of the island. We even managed a walk to Porta da Cruz and back from town.

Machico has shops with souvenirs and snack bars and restaurants as well as a clean beach with golden sand and changing facilities. There is also a supermarket and bus station enabling travel to other destinations on the island. People are friendly and helpful. There are many places to simply sit and have a drink and a snack.

This is really special place. Hidden in the village, but what a house! Really nice, clean, and hospitality from owner is amazing. There was a bottle of wine waiting for us when we arrived (their home made wine) and in the morning he brought us fresh bread. View from terrace is stunning and I only regret I couldn’t stay longer. Next time I come back to Madeira this place is my number one choice!!!

Very well decorated and nice location! We picked this appartement since we had to catch the plane early the next morning. Machico itself was small and not very interested compared to other places in Madeira. Close to PR8 hike which is magnificent.
