Faro is the picturesque capital of the Algarve region, offering colourful streets and buildings, Moorish influence, and typical Portuguese charm. It is encompassed by the lagoon of Ria Formosa Natural Park, and offers wide beaches, a laid-back atmosphere, and a vibrant nightlife.
Occupied by Phoenicians and Carthaginians, and once an important Roman harbour and Moorish culture capital, it was almost flattened by the 1755 earthquake. Happily, the historic centre survived and is today one of best preserved in Algarve. Choosing a hotel in Faro’s Old Town will allow you to have a more authentic Portuguese experience.
The long, sandy beach of Praia de Faro is 7 km from the city, and the beach on Barreta Island –also known as Deserta - is probably the most tranquil in the region. Hotels near the beach in Faro and the surrounding towns of Olhão, Tavira, Quinta do Lago, Quarteira and Vilamoura, are all excellent ways to enjoy sunny Portugal.
Faro International Airport offers connections throughout Europe, and the city also offers ferry, railway, and bus links. Whether you need a beach resort or a hotel near Faro Airport, check out the wide offer available on Booking.com!
Faro seems to be going through a transformation. There were surprisingly alot of houses and some location close to the water which seem to be neglected and not well maintained.
If you are looking for a nightlife atmosphere then Faro is not really the place to stay.
I think Faro is a good place for arriving (Airport is not too big and getting in and out of the airport is easy) and maybe spending a day there before flying out agina.

A working, everyday town with some interesting buildings, modest tourist offering, friendly people and good transport facilities. Felt safe at night on every visit (even the ever-present drug sellers were polite!) Worth a nose if you're passing through.

Beautiful sleepy little historical fishing town.
Beautiful sleepy little historical fishing town. Excellent for a quiet few days in the warm sun, wandering around its quaint narrow streets, enjoying shops, cafes and restaurants. Great beaches all nearby. Also less than half an hours' bus ride to the largest shopping centre/outlet village in the south of Portugal (Mar Shopping Centre), so there's something for everyone.

It's a lived-in, working city and doesn't pretend to put tourists at the forefront. However, tourists are well-catered for and I've spent a few happy days wandering the town on several occasions. Just wear sturdy shoes and have a little torch handy as the pavements/kerbs are no fun!

Lovely parts of this city near Marina, and while there seems to be lots of regeneration the city is quite run down in parts and a huge amount of graffiti. Lovely shopping streets and cafes, and a trip to both the Mar and Forum Algarve shopping centres a great way to spend a few hours. Nice restaurants in marina area and small parks. Well worth a visit but two days here is plenty.
The hotel has a perfect location for beautiful views ,exploring the old town and accessible to both trains and buses as well as short taxi ride to airport. The hotel is nicely decorated and rooms are comfortable. The breakfast buffet is really good and atmosphere was lovely, panoramic views and a musician make it very special. We also enjoyed the restaurants as well and the rooftop pool bar is stunning. The staff at Eva Senses are all very professional and friendly .Highly recommended this hotel for a memorable stay in Faro!
Very up-to-date hotel;; smart, and modern. Room was clean and quiet, even though in a busy area.of town Front desk (Hugo) were polite and friendly. The rooftop restaurant was exceptional, wait staff Joana a lovely person.. we enjoyed the view over the harbour .. underground parking is helpful, in a busy area of the city.

The property looks very new. It’s a walking distance to everything. The room is very comfortable and has everything for a short or extended stay. The Wifi is the fastest in all the hotels I have stayed, which is very important for us who work remotely on the trip. We cooked and used the laundry. Communication with the owner was very easy and prompt. I would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone who would stay in Faro.
Really great villa in the hills peace and quite, great room size and swimming pool with a fully equipped kitchen if you want to cook some nice home meals. The host were absolutely fantastic with breakfast served every morning fresh fruits fresh orange juice coffee etc, it's perfect to spend the days exploring the beachs and towns in Portugal and comeing back to the villa for some peace and quite, I will definitely be returning.
We came to Portugal for our honeymoon. Great location, welcoming and helpful staff.
comfortable beds. Compared to the 2 other hotels we have stayed at on this trip, this hotel was the best. Very delicious breakfast and atmosphere. We stayed at this hotel at the start of our trip, and we liked the hotel that much that we came back for our last night. The best value for money.
The location to the Faro Airport was important. However, the hotel was wonderful as was the staff. I travel with my 2 small dogs and they were welcomed. The place felt very much like home and the nice pool area and patio were a pleasant surprise. The room was small but had everything we needed. Thank you! We will be back.
Amazing hotel in the island. Staff especially Alex were fantastic, very helpful & knowledgeable.
Hotel is right on the beach so an amazing location.

This is an excellent hotel well located in the centre of Faro. The staff are tremendously welcoming and helpful. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was very good value. The complementary spa facilities also make this hotel a perfect base for a short stay in Portugal.
Out of all of the countries I’ve been to, this hotel’s bathroom was definitely one of the best! A lovely Best Western in a town in Portugal, and the best bathroom I’ve ever used! Lovely big stone shower, and space, and lighting. Perfect!! Comfy bed, good tv and windows.
location is awesome (1 min away from the beach and good cheap cafe, 5 euros uber from the airport)
staff is very chill and helpful, cheap and cold tap beer
definitely the place to stay in faro if you wanna meet people and chill at the beach in the same trip
The staff is friendly and check-in fast. The location is convenient, close to the airport and Faro beach. The room is clean and has everything you need for a short stay. I would not book this hotel for a long stay.
Location to the airport was handy - less than 500m down the road. The pool area is nice on a hot afternoon in the Portugal sun. The rooms were clean and beds comfy.
