Selena and her husband, Kevin, picked me up at the harbour and took me on a tour around the islands to show me where to eat and shop, where to find the trail head for the hike to the top of Mount Teurafaatiu, and Terei'a beach. Afterwards they dropped me off at the house of Selena's parents, behind which the bungalow is situated. The bungalow is decorated with loving attention to detail. It has 2 terraces, one in front with a table, and one in the back with chairs for relaxing. Everything is very cozy and Selena and her parents are the perfect hosts. The breakfast was copious and delicious with fresh and incredibly tasty fruit from the garden and, on one occasion, perfectly prepared parrot fish. The beach is only a short bycicle ride away. On my last day I went with Selena's father, Ivan, on a wonderful tour around the lagoon to see the manta and sting rays. Ivan was great fun and we were very lucky with the manta and sting rays.

An exceptional, authentic Polynesian experience. You stay on the island with a local family, their fantastic dogs, and their pet pig. The tent is not just a tent – it’s a small house, more like glamping, with doors that close and a very comfortable bed, located right on the beach. At night, the gentle waves of the lagoon lull you to sleep. You can wade or swim to the main part of the island, as the water is only waist-deep. There’s a rich lagoon life for snorkeling, and they also offer free kayak rentals. The family is incredibly friendly – Coco and Poe are wonderful hosts and do their best to accommodate every wish. Poe cooks a delicious traditional Polynesian dinner. Breakfast is generous: eggs, butter, homemade jam, pastries, coffee, tea, and tropical fruit. Staying here gave me a priceless insight into Polynesian culture, while they also respectfully provided me with all the privacy and time to myself that I needed.

We felt very comfortable from the very first moment. The host V is an extremely kind, friendly and caring person who truly does everything to make sure his guests have a great stay. We felt very welcomed from the very beginning. The food (dinner) was absolutely amazing and something we can highly recommend. The dinners were very well balanced with delicious fish as a protein source, carbohydrates, vegetables and always a dessert. Especially in French Polynesia, where it can be quite difficult to find balanced meals, this was a real highlight. Every meal was prepared with a lot of effort, care and love and was consistently excellent. The accommodation itself was very clean and well maintained. We had an incredibly great time here. Another lovely aspect of the stay were all the animals around the guesthouse, including the sweet dogs Paco and Luna, the cat Party and Pfiffi, Noire, all of them very cute and friendly. The location is very good and overall it was a wonderful experience. We can wholeheartedly recommend this guesthouse and would happily stay here again. Since all guests had breakfast and dinner always together it felt like friends and family also with the pets.. it was so heartbreaking to leave. Thank you V for the great stay! PS Pablo and Chloe liked your goodbye gift also a lot (see pictures).

The accommodation is genuine local chalet. Although there is no air conditioning, the fresh ocean breeze, openings in the walls and anti-mosquito nets make it so comfortable. Additionally, the dinners prepared by our host family were an experience by itself.
