I dont think there is that much to do in lima tourism wise, at least for me - I dont usually stay in a city for many days. But for someone who likes surfing or various sport activities they will like it. I mainly came for salsa dancing. Good to be cautious in all areas other than Miraflores and Barranco. Take a taxi via app (Uber or Cabify) always - dont hail a cab on the street. Watch for belongings. I've also heard from a local that its good to lock doors of cab and not open windows, at least in the more sketchy areas e.g. near the airport.ArielCanada - Scored 1010

It seems easy to get around in Lima.
It seems easy to get around in Lima. The bus system is so good and fast that it is almost always full of people. We would like to have more time to see more. However, we liked the visit to one of the main churches and the detailed explanation of its history that our guide there told us. We also had an excellent meal in the restaurant downtown and enjoyed the short time we had in Miraflores.

Horrible. Don’t ever venture in to Lima. I was robbed while waiting for Uber. The unknown crook who took my phone was able to change my email password and gain access to my bank account. He was able to Zelle $1000 to another account and I could do nothing. It was very well executed organized crime. Peru is not a safe and best place to visit

Visited the capitol plenty of times, Miraflores/Surco/San Isidro/Magdalena/Barranco . I do not recommend to spend your holidays, the city lacks security outside Surco and Miraflores, therefore the safe footprint is too small. It is perfect for as a stepping stone, because the other provinces are by far more beautifull , yet not "european"safe either.

Big, fascinating, beautiful city with excellent food. While Miraflores is the best place to stay, you also need to visit historic central Lima, but beware the traffic! And we visited at Christmas time, so it was especially beautiful. We splurged on a dinner at Astrid y Gaston in (I believe) San Isidro - quite good, with great atmosphere & service. And Barranco was fun - I loved the murals, and the Bajada de los Banos walk down to the beach. Callao (port in particular) wasn't nice, but port areas seldom are, so what can I say? We were taken out of the port to a near by plaza, with plenty of people there answering questions and letting us know how to connect with taxis/pre-arranged drivers, etc. Getting off a cruise ship there was just the start of our adventure. Overall the whole 3 days in Lima were wonderful, and I've love to go back some day.RRuthUnited States
