Really enjoyed the stay here, Dario and Gigi are such friendly, helpful hosts. They were really thoughtful and gave us tips for where to book surfing lessons, where to eat and advice for the next place we're going to. The hostel is really relaxed, with a fully equipped kitchen, communal areas to chill out and in a perfect location with just a few minutes walk to the beach and all the main restaurants. If I'm ever back here, I'll definitely stay there again. Thanks Gigi and Dario 😃

Best hostel we came across in Peru. So cosy that you feel like home. Sometimes you just need to have a good rest in a place like this then you you can carry on with your travels like a champ again. The place is so well organised and cosy with all attention to the details for your comfort. Very healthy vibe in there. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The owner is awesome dude putting his heart and effort in to this place, making sure that we have great experience and good stay.

The property was extremely clean and I felt right at home from the beginning. It had all the amenities you could ask for, and was in a very safe and secure area. The hosts were so kind, I can’t thank them enough for their hospitality. I came to this hotel looking for a few days of rest, and they went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed to recover well. Huanchaco is a cute and safe place and a good place to base yourself in the Trujillo area - it is way safer than Trujillo and has incredible food to boot. Be sure to try the parihuela and ceviche at one of the many seaside restaurants. Huanchaco is also home to the caballitos de totora - a continuation of a pre-Columbian tradition of reed boats. Chan Chan is nearby and it's a straight shot to Huaca el Brujo.

It's definitely not a small surf town like I thought, it's...

It's definitely not a small surf town like I thought, it's much bigger than expected with a bit of a nightlife. Many three-story bars and restaurants, many cute markets, but the real shopping is located in Trujillo (a half hour bus ride away). Despite the busy streets and many pedestrians, huanchaco maintains a very chill vibe. The beaches aren't great for relaxing or swimming but perfect for surfing. It's a really beautiful vacation destination, safe for the family and for solo travellers as well of all ages. I'd definitely recommend a visit !

There's something for everyone.

There's something for everyone. Whether you're looking for a relaxing family getaway or a night out for couples, the mayor should focus on fixing the pier and installing proper sidewalks along the boardwalk and in the commercial areas. Many people use wheelchairs.

Huanchaco is a charming fishing village on the Pacific coast. It's a popular spot, especially for young people. (It's ideal for surfing.) Thanks to the Humboldt Current, the weather here is always perfect (warm and sunny). If you like fish, be sure to try ceviche.

It's a well-known tourist destination.

It's a well-known tourist destination. Generally, it's a quiet city, but unfortunately, the boardwalk area near the pier gets very noisy at night, with restaurants and bars blasting music, which is quite unpleasant. The northern part of the city currently lacks lighting; hopefully, that will improve.

The hotel was terrible. Dirty. And the service was awful. We ordered delivery from La Barra restaurant and it never arrived. We went to El Anzuelo restaurant and after an hour we left because they wouldn't serve us. We had to eat hamburgers on the go. I don't recommend those places.

Gigi and Dario are the most wonderful hosts you can imagine. Their English is perfect and they are always ready to help. They have 6 cats which are the friendliest, always ready to get cuddled. The location, quiet and safe, is next to the Main street with all kind of restaurants and a little supermarket. We even opted to stay one more night because we liked it so much. Huanchaco is a good place to visit the archeological sites, but also to relax on the beach (and surf, if you’re in to surfing!).

This is a really nice small hostel. The kitchen is well equipped the bathrooms are clean and the rooms as well and the wifi is working well as well. Since they also run a surf school and many things are run by volunteers (greetings to Margaux, you did great job) you will most probably meet many enthusiastic surfers, which is great! Really recommended stay in Huanchaco.

Owner was helpful in answering questions. Location was close to airport and affordable price. We had an early morning flight so this place was convenient. Clean room and bathroom. Friendly woman greeted us. It would be helpful that future guests knows Spanish to converse with her. The area was safe and away from the noisy part of Huanchaco.

Really friendly and exceptionally helpful landlord. Even when we were passing through Huanchaco after our initial stay we let us leave our bags at no extra cost. Great location near the beach and had a lovely rooftop to relax in the evening ! Would really commend if you are planning to come to Huanchaco.
