Regarded as the oldest inhabited city of the Americas and its historical capital, none of these things are enough to describe the magic enchainment and colourful people of Cusco. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, its current shape is the colonial result of building on top of many Incan sites. A good example is the Cathedral of Santo Domingo.
Must see places include the walled complex of ‘Sacsayhuamán’, and the remains of the main temple of ‘Coricancha’, dedicated to the Sun God ‘Inti’. For longer Cusco stays, hotels near ‘Plaza de Armas’ central square are ideal to fully enjoy the city. Due to its 3400-metres altitude, some Cusco hotels offer oxygen to help their guests.
Moray, supposedly an ancient experimental agricultural station, is 46 km away, while the Titicaca Lake is 390 km away. The road to Machu Picchu is the famous Inca Trail or ‘Camino Inca’, which encompasses settlements, different Andean environments, and many Incan ruins.
Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport offers several services to Lima. Arriving at Wanchaq Railway Station or ‘Terminal Terrestre de Cusco’ bus station are also popular choices. Come to visit the ancient jewel, enjoy Peru and Cusco with the hotel deals available on Booking.com!
It’s a great city with tons of tourists and great food.
It’s a great city with tons of tourists and great food. We came during the rainy period and wish we had brought warmer clothes but what a great reason to buy sweaters from the local artisans.
So much to do, hoping to make time to see the city vs just doing tours out of the city to neighboring tourist spots.
Easy to walk
Taxis are cheap
Check out sanblas area for great food
Don’t eat in touristy areas but step away and check out trendy places
So many things to do. Shop around for good tours that offer the same experience at good rates.

Cusco is a very interesting place, has a lot of areas to discover and you can still find kind and genuine people who do not see you as a tourist to make money from. We stayed a 20 minute walk from the centre and it proved a good choice because we were away from the noise and the tourists. We walked around it and went to Sacsayhuamán, the ancient site which was very interesting but had quite an expensive ticket to enter. We also visited Pisac, by bus and we enjoyed the quiet atmosphere there. This was my second visit of Cusco It was developed a lot but it still is a city worth visiting

If you want to have an idea of what the Inca culture was, you must go to Cusco. The sad Spanish colonial dominance that destroyed the Inca culture and looted their riches can also teach you a lesson or two about how humankind sometimes is so blind to what you can obtain through collaboration rather than imperial dominance. You can only guess what was lost and marvel at what the Inca accomplished just before the Spanish arrived.

We were very excited about the trip because of the chance to visit Machu Picchu. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the entire region. The food, honestly, is the best we’ve ever had while traveling. The people are incredibly friendly, and we found the city to be very safe.
Additionally, exploring the Inca ruins and learning more about the history of this civilization turned out to be even more fascinating and special than we had anticipated.

Wow this place is amazing! After months backpacking it was a real treat to spend a little extra on a proper hotel and this place is worth it.
All the staff we exceptional especially the male receptionist who went above and beyond to make our stay special.
The rooms are lovely, with TV and best shower we’ve had in South America. The breakfast was really good . Location is ideal being in San Blas - the trendy area of Cusco!
The hotel common areas are very well decorated and most of the staff will do everything they can to make your stay the best. However, this is not a 5 star hotel by any stretch.
Come to the hotel to have a meal, take in the view and the fabulous sculptures exhibited by Carlos Olivera.
Lovely small hotel in San Blas right in the heart of the historic centre of Cusco.
Great room with an absolutely excellent shower! Great breakfast too and the staff were really friendly and helpful!
