This is a really lovely hotel in a fantastic position just above the old town. Easy walking distance to the cafes. Our room was fantastic - with a wonderful balcony over-looking the mountain. Breakfast and dinner were delicious. Service was really good. Can not recommend enough.

Everything was perfect. From the beautiful house itself and the delicious food (both breakfast and dinner are included in the price, made at home or by local cooks, out of local products, easily one of the best, if not the best, I had in Oman), through small details like the smell of incense all around the guesthouse, elegant design choices, and the high quality soap (available to buy downstairs!), to the host herself and the ambience she creates for this place. I loved her idea to have shared dinners and breakfasts, with her and/or other travelers. It is a wonderful way to exchange stories and experiences while building a small community of Bait Al Aali people. Emina knows a lot about the region, has interesting stories to tell, a big heart for animals and is conscious about sustainable development of tourism. The area is magical and quiet, with a palm plantation just outside, where you can stroll for hours and relax. The room was spacious, with a lot of light, a big, comfortable bed and a private, very clean and modern bathroom. Everything is freshly renovated, the terrace has an incredible view of the area, and Emina makes sure that the place feels like home you want to return to. I’ll definitely be back for a longer stay!

It was a unique experience to sleep in a real old mud house in Al Hamra village. It's like being part of the Country heritage. The place has all modern hotel fearures like air conditioning and wi-fi, all fitted in a typical mud house. It is really clean, and on top the staff was friendly and nice. There are tea and coffee tables throughout the place, so that guests can enjoy hot drinks at anytime.

The hotel is for those who like places with atmosphere where people meet in the evening , everybody discussing their daily trips and impressions. The rooms are arranged in a traditional omani style. no TV, no chairs or tables, but if a chair is an absolute must for you , there is a roof terrace full of tables and chairs and coaches where dinners and breakfasts are served. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the internet is very good. Dates, coffee, tea, hot and cold water are available at all times. The neighborhood is interesting with remains of an old mud town, a nice palm garden opposite the hotel - an alternative for an afternoon walk. A great starting point for your Al Hadjar experience trips ! The breakfasts are ok, so is the dinner, it is always the same menu but it is very tasty.

We loved this place! It smelt so clean and was so clean the moment we stepped foot inside. There js a communal kitchen, but we also had a fridge in our room. There was a beautiful place in the back to sit and relax. Hamed arranged a tour for us to Jabal Shams and it was so convenant and fantastic and well priced. Honestly this place exceeded my expectations.

The farms with the falaj system are educational and worth a visit. Older folks with walking issues may find the walks and treks difficult. Good time to visit during winter.Walking around the farms and old houses in Misfat Al Abreyeen in narrow paths is a different experience.

We stayed in Old Al Hamra at the Al Bait Aljabal Hospitality...

We stayed in Old Al Hamra at the Al Bait Aljabal Hospitality Inn which was wonderful. Beautifully artistically decorated. The very helpful owner found a local guide for us Abdul Rahman Alabri to take us in his 4x4 to Jebel Shams to do the Balcony Walk. AbdulRachman was truly excellent with a lovely kind personality. Very informative. I would never have managed the Balcony Walk without him as, although a hill walker, I can experience a fear of heights. The Balcony Walk has big drops on it though you are never truly exposed. Being with a local guy who knew what he was doing gave me confidence. His cousin owns a lovely cafe Saef in amongst the palm trees in old Al Hamra. You really are away from the commercial side of tourism there. Al Hamra can act as a base for many other places in the mountains. Easy to get to Misfah for example

Traditional and very quite place in the middle of a small heritage village. Friendly and helpful staff. As a family of five, we had booked two rooms. One with bathroom, the other one had shared bathroom on the floor. All very clean and comfortable to use. Great old style Omani flair within the house. Definitely suitable for families and well located to have day trips around the area as there is plenty to see and all nearby. 24/7 access, however, check-in before 11pm recommended. We would have appreciated a breakfast included in our price.

I love Al Hamra and it’s a good base for exploring nearby locations. You can see all my info on those locations from my trips there at glimpsesofuae.com to get a better idea. Misfat al Abraeen is very close and Jebel Shams is nearby if you like hiking.
