A very cosy flat overlooking a private garden which you have just for yourself.the furniture,the bed,the towels and everything in the flat was top grade. The host was very thoughtful with little presents too! You fell welcome as soon as you arrive.this is one of the best guesthouses we have ever had.

This is a perfect little spot in a quiet beach town. Our only complaint is due to a very late ferry, we arrived rather too late to really enjoy it. Sandy was very accommodating with a late check-in, sending clear instructions on how to access the suite at night, and providing prompt communication. We arrived even later than expected at 1 am and we were so grateful to find such a cosy, clean suite. The bed was amazingly comfortable, and it was incredibly quiet outside. We appreciated the breakfast items (croissants, yogurt, cereals, fruits, toast, coffee, tea, milk etc) and the shower was amazing. There are lots of nice touches (games and DVDs in the shelf, extra blankets, lovely shampoo) and there is a cute private patio to enjoy. Free easy parking right outside. And to top it off, it's a short walk to a spectacularly long sandy beach for a morning stroll!

Spacious, stylie, in the heart of the town center (supermarket, bank, public transport etc) special requests met at short notice ,clear days communication with host. The use of a fully equipt and functional kitchen was a rare treat. Best value for money I've ever come across (especially in the middle of December / same day booking)

As a world traveller I have stayed in many places. This one I walked in at instantly felt at home and very happy. Not only was everything spic and span physically but also energetically. There was no sense of many people having been there. The space was clean and clear and spacious just for us. I will always remember this feeling. The decor was bright and light without creating any "imprints" on the mind. Even the soap was not your every day soap but of high standard. The sun shining in over the mountains in the morning created a sense of 'all is well'. There are excellent curtains should you prefer the dark. We stayed here on the way to the south island to be close to the ferry. There is the hum of the motorway way off in the background which did not bother us at all, and I am highly sensitive. The quality of this place, its energy and its setting in the rolling hills I cannot recommend this place high enough, and myself would always come back here when in the area. I would give this place 10 stars if I could.

Aroha Tiny home is a few minutes walk from the beach, It is in a beautiful location and just right for a short get away. Several mini golf places we visited along with the shopping centre and also a visit to Kapiti island to top of our visit.

Waikanae definitely had a holiday feel. The beach is great.

Waikanae definitely had a holiday feel. The beach is great. There are a few cafes and restaurants to choose from and a couple of supermarkets. Located on the main train line with regular trains to Wellington and surrounding locations. I recommend Waikanae for a relaxing beach stay.

We went to visit family and enjoy the local amenities. There are a couple of good cafe/restaurants, although they were very busy and hard to get bookings at. Lots of great walks to be had around the area.

Great place. The beach and surrounds have much to offer.

Great place. The beach and surrounds have much to offer. For a low key activity go to Nga Manu. Relaxing and informative! Watch the eels being fed and attempt to see a nesting kiwi. We did, but not much action to see. If you like nature, just go.

We were on a mini break playing golf at a couple of local...

We were on a mini break playing golf at a couple of local golf courses, including Waikanae. It was a good location for us. We ate at Longbeach Tavern which has lovely woodfired pizzas & craft beers & cider on tap. We sat outside in a garden setting surrounded by home grown veges & herbs, which are used in their meals. We also ate at the Cambodian Restaurant opposite the train station. The decor was basic but the food was gorgeous. I recommend.

People are pleasant and caring. The mood is pleasant. A safe and happy little town. Caters well for children. Good parks and reserves dotted around in the community. People are caring for the environment. Quite a few different places to visit eg Akatarawas for hiking, beaches, river,... A really nice pizza place near a petrol station. A good chinese resto (Eastern Egret?) near the Woolworths. I came for a funeral, so stayed around family and grieved with them. I saw the retirement village called Winiara near Elizabeth St, which was very welcoming. My cousin has been very happy there. Oh, Waikanae has a little local bus service. Every 30 mins I think.

Sunny Glen cottage is a clean, comfortable, and very quiet apartment, with access to a lovely walkable trail behind the property by the river. The private garden area is beautiful with many little birds flying around. The hosts are in the adjacent house and are very friendly and helpful. Waikanae is a lovely, quaint town.

This is a wonderful rural retreat though only a 15-minute drive from Waikanae township. The open plan cottage is spacious and beautifully decorated. The hosts are friendly and provide a delicious breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.

The location is extremely handy to Waikanae beach and to the motorway. The room decor is lovely, the bathroom shower is huge. Hosts made everything so easy.
