I expected the usual self catering type of place but got a fully furnished house. Even the details were there, a very comfortable bed, good lighting, a washing machine, a large frig, and a big back yard and even a doggie door.

Debbie and Dave, our hosts, are a lovely, friendly couple who help with anything needed. The house is beautiful, perfectly equipped with attention to every detail. Mary was extremely welcoming and friendly - she let us visit the plane in her hangar, and also offered a great chat! The ingredients given for the breakfast was also good, although you do have to cook the eggs yourself (an egg station is set up). There was also flexibility for a late check out, which was offered free of charge.

My husband and I have been coming to Twizel for several years now. My husband comes for the fishing and I for the photography. We have stayed in all seasons. This time it was July middle of winter. Didn't catch any fish but I got some great photos. Had a lovely meal out at Poppies. Would recommend them. We were disappointed with our accommodation, but it didn't ruin our stay in Twizel.

Cute, small town with the most amazing scenery.

Cute, small town with the most amazing scenery. The town itself is very small, but offers so much with scenic walks, activities & the locals are super friendly. We had dinner at the Razza Bar - a small, old school bar with the best atmosphere & great food. The owner was really friendly and told us all about the lord of the rings filming and where we could find the area where the fight scene was filmed which was very cool. Beautiful place & we can’t wait to come back

The view is fantastic. We need to stay longer next time. Twizel is a good centre point for 2 lakes Lake Pukaki and Lake Takapo. Compare with stay in Lake Takapo, Stay in Twizel is more valuable. If you are hiring car yourself to teavel.

The lake is brilliant and perfect for our power boat racing. The restaurants were fantastic and the food was great. The 'hardware store' is more than that! You should definitely check it out. They have everything!

The cabins are a perfect compact size for a quick overnight stay when you're out and about on your South Island adventures. The nearby lakes, and the township of Twizel are great backdrops for your holiday here. Good hot water in the shower blocks, and kitchen facilities in the communal areas. Some fun playground equipment and attractions for kids and little ones.

This was a last minute booking to make our visit to Mount Cook that little bit easier. The hotel obviously plays to the coach travel market but for solo travellers we found it good though a little dated in decor. The staff however made up for everything as they were interested in us, attentive and very helpful.

Very modern and comfortable room, situated away from main town and not in a hotel complex so was very quiet and relaxing at night. Communication from the owner was fantastic making check in easy and followed up to check in their guests, which is very considerate.

Beautiful spacious home with lots of comfort. When we couldn’t find the firewood (basket was empty and no information about the location of the woodshed in the infomap) someone from booktwizel came over right away to help us out!
