We loved our stay at the Alps Motel & Apartments. The room was spacious and with all amenities , its also walking distance to the Twizel town centre which has supermarkets, playground for kids & restaurants. We chose to make Twizel our base to travel to Mt.Cook for trails . The property also has good parking space. The rooms were super clean. Would highly recommend this property in the beautiful town of Twizel

Friendly host. Thank you Dave for giving us useful travel information in the areas, he is very kind and helpful. He helped us to open the water pump for the washing machine.Thank you so much! Beautiful cottage with everything we need, like a home. I think we can see the stars if the sky is clear. Twizel is a beautiful town, many beautiful lakes, and delicious lunch at the salmon farm. We visited Mount Cook NP the following day. Thank you Dave for the useful information.

Twizel was an area for farming & sheep grazing until the NZ...

Twizel was an area for farming & sheep grazing until the NZ Govt decided to connect all the Alpine Lochs via a series Canals & Power Plants to create a Massive Hydro Power Scheme in the late 60's. It took nearly 20 years, but at the completion of the Power Project the Village of Twizel was established & the Power scheme workers & residents wanted the town to remain. Luckily they won the day & Twizel became part of The MacKenzie County Council set up & is now a Tourist Mecca for Alpine Enthusiasts. A great place to base yourself whilst visiting Mount Cook/Aoraki & the surrounding Ben Ohau Valley Region. Twizel still has that quaintness of a small Alpine Village, a quality that seems to have been lost in other nearby Tourist Meccas.

Didn’t do much in Twizel itself as it was for us just a...

Didn’t do much in Twizel itself as it was for us just a stopover on a long roadie, and we had been in the area before. But there is heaps to do and see within a short drive. We had our own food with us so didn’t eat out. The camp kitchen was great.

My husband and I have been coming to Twizel for several...

My husband and I have been coming to Twizel for several years now. My husband comes for the fishing and I for the photography. We have stayed in all seasons. This time it was July middle of winter. Didn't catch any fish but I got some great photos. Had a lovely meal out at Poppies. Would recommend them. We were disappointed with our accommodation, but it didn't ruin our stay in Twizel.

Cute, small town with the most amazing scenery.

Cute, small town with the most amazing scenery. The town itself is very small, but offers so much with scenic walks, activities & the locals are super friendly. We had dinner at the Razza Bar - a small, old school bar with the best atmosphere & great food. The owner was really friendly and told us all about the lord of the rings filming and where we could find the area where the fight scene was filmed which was very cool. Beautiful place & we can’t wait to come back

The view is fantastic. We need to stay longer next time. Twizel is a good centre point for 2 lakes Lake Pukaki and Lake Takapo. Compare with stay in Lake Takapo, Stay in Twizel is more valuable. If you are hiring car yourself to teavel.

The lake is brilliant and perfect for our power boat racing.

The lake is brilliant and perfect for our power boat racing. The restaurants were fantastic and the food was great. The 'hardware store' is more than that! You should definitely check it out. They have everything!

There was a problem with a door in our cabin and we have been upgraded to a lodge. It was a best stay in our trip. The location of the holiday park is great, near the beautiful lake and just a minute away from Twizel. Everything is so clean and great laundry facilities.

We booked this unit in Twizel for access to Mount Cook. The stand-alone unit was well located for this. The bed was comfortable, and tv reception was very good. Air conditioning was available, which was essential during our stay.
