Fantastic Managers Annie and Mick, they couldn't have been more pleasant to deal with, the position on the Lake is unbelievable, and a short trip into town with plenty of Restaurants to choose from. Best part was sitting on the back deck enjoying the extraordinary view of the lake after a day out and having a cold refreshment. Will definitely stay at the Retreat when next in Taupo.

Fantastic place to visit and stay. Victoria's Kitchen make the most amazing plum and custard or rhubarb and custard shortcake and have very friendly and helpful staff. Dixie Browns and Cafe Baku are also among our favourite eating places along with Thai Delight and the roast shop.

We had a specific purpose other than tourism for our stay. Being of an older generation we found Taupo rather busy and the traffic layout excessive, but then others no doubt find it quite acceptable.

We visited Taupo for the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge.

We visited Taupo for the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge. Our first time in Taupo and did not have enough time to visit all the beautiful places in and around Taupo. However, cycling around the lake gave us a great view of the place and it definitely worthwhile for anyone who loves nature. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful when we needed so directions. Jip, you should go there.

A great meeting point in the middle of the North Island with plenty to do in the region. From adventure sports, shopping, long beautiful scenic walks and bike rides, there is something for everyone. Great cafes to choose from and my favourite is Kefi for breakfast or lunch. Nice gallery shops also.

I've been to Taupo many times. So much to do there.

I've been to Taupo many times. So much to do there. Lots of family activities such as hot pools, mini golf, bungy jumping, Huka Falls and so much more. Beautiful area with magnificent views of the lake and mountains. Very picturesque district!

Staff were amazing, friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay better than expected. The motel room was well laid out and roomy for a family of 6 (including 4 adults and 2 little kids). The beds were super comfy and the softest nicest sheets I have ever slept in! Value for money was exceptional and I don't know why anyone would want to pay hundreds more for accommodation when you could stay at a place like this for so much cheaper! We were more than happy with our stay here and will definitely come back one day! Thankyou!

Loved the view out the very large window to the lake and mountains beyond. It was nice to have a toaster, microwave, jug, coffee equipment, and a good-sized fridge with a freezer.. The air conditioner kept the room cozy. The room and bathroom were very clean. An affordable motel in Taupo that enjoys a full view of the lake and mountains, others have side and partial views. We would stay again, but mostly for the view.

Central location for all of Taupos attractions. Bellbird cottage is private and in a quiet suburb with good views down to lake and mountains. Well placed for morning and afternoon sun in kitchen and living area with good decks to relax outside. Separated bedrooms ideal for our 3 generation family. We had a most enjoyable stay and our grandson greatly enjoyed bringing us morning coffee by the bifold window.
