Town is really interesting, Kiwi house was good but...

Town is really interesting, Kiwi house was good but struggled to follow the map (we missed the Kea talk as we could not find them) Great place to break a road trip. Variety of food outlets. Playground looked great but it was raining so did not visit. Found a table under a tree at the Big Pukeko where we could have a picnic without getting wet

Once upon a time Otorohanga was very Family Aroha practiced but due to COVID-19 & Costs today- not so much. Those were the good old days of Maori Aroha in Practicality expressed by my Tupuna Aunties & Uncles Kaumatua Kuia Leaders. Today we'd Rather go to Taumaranui where Aroha is still practiced today for the many years especially out In Kaitupeka Marae & Whanaus connected there. Township folk are lovely too. We noted Christmas day BP petrol place business thriving, as all else closed but there & the amount of Visitng Tourists was tremendous. We'll done Taumaranui. MereNgaahei & Brian Paki

Otorohanga is close to many attractions and activities.

Otorohanga is close to many attractions and activities. There are beaches close by, wild places, hills and mountains for tramping. There are at least three licenced restaurants giving a variety of dining in the town.te awamutu is a pleasant 20 minutes away with more shopping and eating options. Otorohanga has a world class 18 hole golf course with lovely views.

Friendly place good range of cafes etc liked the Kiwiana and hanging baskets . Town made an effort . Close to Waitomo Caves and enroute to Hamilton . Ate at Jasmihes Thai picked up picnic lunch at Fat Kiwi . Got supplies from Woolworths Countdown

Although this is a small country town it had all the conveniences we needed such as a Countdown, restaurants, cafes, great little unique shops, the kiwi house, green spaces, good public toilets, a big laundromat, take aways etc. Also very close to the Waitomo Caves, which is very handy.

We had a fantastic stay. The location is ideal — close enough to Otorohanga for convenience, yet it truly feels off‑grid. With no light pollution, the night sky is incredible, and it is wonderfully peaceful. The cabin offers breathtaking 360‑degree views of the valley and surrounding hills, creating a real sense of escape. The full kitchen made it easy to prepare meals, and the shower pressure was superb after a day of exploring. Brett and Irma were warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly, which made the whole experience even better.
