The main point of our trip was to visit Hobbiton Movie Set.

The main point of our trip was to visit Hobbiton Movie Set. This is an amazing experience, our second trip. Have done both the lunch & dinner experience. Food, staff & experience rate a 10. Had a great meal at Sofra, food & staff were great. Breakfast at The Rich Coffee Cafe was nice and the staff were ok. Visited the I-Centre too and found the staff to be helpful.

Matamata was a complete surprise.

Matamata was a complete surprise. We ate at 4 different restaurants and each place had friendly staff and good selections on the menus. The information centre staff were wonderful and very helpful. Hobbiton exceeded our expectations. Will definitely be returning to Matamata

Matamata is a nice little town with the usual array of shops...

Matamata is a nice little town with the usual array of shops and some good eating places. Of course its access to Hobbiton, which was the purpose of our trip, but enjoyed a pleasant evening eating fish n chips in the wooded, shaded park area by the Isite.

We were in Matamata for a wedding at Hobbiton which was a great experience for us, even though we are not Lord of the Rings fans. Plenty of places to dine and from Maple Lodge was an easy walk into the main centre of town.

It was a gorgeous country retreat near Hobbiton, which was great for an overnight stay. It had everything you needed for a comfortable visit. The goats were just outside the front of the cottage and were very sweet, hiding in their hutch out of the weather. The cottage is near Matamata, so it was an easy drive to have dinner in town.

Hana, the lady that was cleaning the motel, was so nice. Nothing was a bother for her. She helped us when we needed it. She'd only worked there a week, and it would have been a struggle without her. She helped make up for the motels deficiencies. She made the stay so much better. Shower pressure was great

Recommended by local people that are new, really happy to stay again at the hotel as we stayed before three years ago the only issue was was the occasional road traffic noise but that again was very occasional and didn’t stop a good night sleep

The location in Matamata was great. Nice and quiet and the unit itself was clean, tidy and very spacious. The hosts were welcoming and friendly. I will stay there again if I ever go back to Matamata.
