I loved this place! it is my dream home, surrounded by greenery and hills. Our room was simple but spaciuos, clean and tidy with a big bathroom and a very comfortable bed. There is a small kitchen equipped all what is needed, the breakfast was very nice! even if we stayed for one night only, we felt like home! a plus is the hot pool iacuzzi in the garden, fantastic! the surrounding garden is so lovely and the cat is adorable! The BnB is 10 minutes by car from Matamata town and around 15 minutes from Hobbitton movie set.

The main point of our trip was to visit Hobbiton Movie Set.

The main point of our trip was to visit Hobbiton Movie Set. This is an amazing experience, our second trip. Have done both the lunch & dinner experience. Food, staff & experience rate a 10. Had a great meal at Sofra, food & staff were great. Breakfast at The Rich Coffee Cafe was nice and the staff were ok. Visited the I-Centre too and found the staff to be helpful.

Matamata was a complete surprise.

Matamata was a complete surprise. We ate at 4 different restaurants and each place had friendly staff and good selections on the menus. The information centre staff were wonderful and very helpful. Hobbiton exceeded our expectations. Will definitely be returning to Matamata

Matamata is a nice little town with the usual array of shops...

Matamata is a nice little town with the usual array of shops and some good eating places. Of course its access to Hobbiton, which was the purpose of our trip, but enjoyed a pleasant evening eating fish n chips in the wooded, shaded park area by the Isite.

We were in Matamata for a wedding at Hobbiton which was a great experience for us, even though we are not Lord of the Rings fans. Plenty of places to dine and from Maple Lodge was an easy walk into the main centre of town.

Beautifully appointed spot in a stunning location! The room itself is perfect and spotless and it was great to have the decking outside to chill on. So many lovely little touches, like the homemade breakfast and the bottle of port to have a drink under the stars. Also loved being able to go and feed the friendly sheep and goats on the property. Glenn was very welcoming and gave a us some great recommendations for things to do in the limited time we had in Matamata.
