Great location, just across the road from the waterfront and a short walk to the shops and restaurants. You get the entire apartment, one of six in a small block, which has plenty of room (unless you plan on cooking for a large group, the kitchen is on the small side). Very comfortable large bed. Ideally located for a trip to Cape Reinga, which I did comfortably in a day by motorbike, as it's only 20 KM from SH1. Met the owners who were very welcoming. Would highly recommend.

Mangonui is gorgeous - fabulous walkway, unique art & gift shops, great eating - Breakfast at Jesse's was huge & delicious. It is also handy to all the East Coast beaches - the north is always a favourite trip down memory lane for us.

A cute lil fishing village with a lot of vibe.

A cute lil fishing village with a lot of vibe. Newly built walkways around the coast, lots of wonderful restaurants - with takeaway options. The 4-square is very well supplied and people are friendly and relaxed. The ocean waves lap in here, nice wee spot with excellent scenery with a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Lovely accommodation at really reasonable prices.

Staff were friendly however there was a power cut so no tv, unable to buy food or drinks. Power was off for a lengthy time it would have been nice to get an update or a discount. Other than that it’s always nice to stay

A nice little place to stop over for a few days, especially summertime. A good place to start exploring the Northern part of the country. Some good food and coffee places to visit, shopping etc. A likeable sea/beach place to spend some time relaxing.

Mangonui is a pleasant small place with a beautiful...

Mangonui is a pleasant small place with a beautiful waterfront. Considering its size it has a good range of eating places as well as a supermarket. The heritage trail is interesting and also a good walk, although there are some steep sections once you leave the waterside. There are good views all around. At low tide there is an interesting range of bird life on the exposed mud. There is obviously good fishing. This a good place to tke a trip up to Cape Reinga and the nearby KariKari peninsula has a winery and good beaches.

Original town buildings in a unspoilt, beautiful, harbour setting with excellent boardwalk along the foreshore. Good information provided on the old buildings about their previous uses. Reasonable range of places to eat.

Good points - View, exceptional! Mangonui Harbour right out the window, doors open up onto balcony, best way to wake up in the morning! Great location! Right by the water, cafe, fish n chips and 4 square all on your doorstep plus a few shops. Towels/linen was lovely and soft, bed very comfy. TV was handy due to the bad weather outside. Lovely hot shower.

The location was great, a short walk down to the Mangonui shops. The views were amazing :) The facilities, although older as expected for the price and clearly advertised were very well maintained and immaculately clean. It was also nice and quiet.

Well located on a quiet stretch of Doubtless Bay. Serene view on the board walk around the water. A classic historic boutique hotel with very comfortable bed. Jennifer and Justin are very friendly, warm and hospitable host.

The view from "Rua" was exceptional. The location was very central in Mangonui and was in walking distance to the local Hotel, eateries and the wharf. A great place to stay.
