The proximity to the airport is a plus, as well as the complimentary shuttle service - even in the middle of the night. Our spacious room surpirised us positively. Breakfast was good and abundant. We had no problems with any airplane noise.

A truly special spot. After a busy few days in NZ we loved having this little haven to relax. The wine was exceptional and a lovely little extra and the outdoor bath was the perfect way to wind down and listen to nothing but bird song. Only a short drive to great food spots or Uber eats delivers!

Steve and Jackie are wonderful hosts. The Villa is perfectly sited between the centre and the Botanic Gardens and is a beautifully maintained classic building. The rooms are spacious and our bed was very comfortable. There's air con if needed. One of the highlights was breakfast, which was tasty, and an opportunity to have a chat with other travellers at round the communal tables with plentiful supplies of tea and coffee.

Stunning Natural Beauty at Your Doorstep

Dusting itself off from a series of recent earthquakes is the seriously stunning New Zealand city of Christchurch. While its old English buildings like ChristChurch Cathedral are being rebuilt, the magnificent Botanic Gardens and Hagley Park sustain its reputation as the Garden City.

Located along the Avon River, NZ’s 2nd-largest city has Victoria Square at its centre. Surrounding highlights include the Canterbury Museum and the Gothic-style Arts Centre. Sumner Beach is a favourite location for locals when the sun shines.

Out towards the spectacular harbour town of Lyttelton is the Christchurch Gondola ride where you can enjoy a sweeping view of the city.

The South Island’s capital is a good starting-off point for extreme sports such as bungee jumping and white-water rafting. The majestic Southern Alps surround the city and offer world-class ski resorts such as Methven, at the foot of Mt. Hutt.

Great to see the vibrancy return to Christchurch. Lots of great cafes & eateries. Fabulous art scene whether it's galleries, sculptures or murals in carparks and of course the lovely gardens.

Gorgeous city, we were only there for a pitstop but will spend two nights there on our way home. So pretty, lovely houses and buildings. Lots of grass/trees etc. Our experience with take away foods wasn't great, I think we are too spoiled living in Melbourne. Also groceries and food int he supermarket were SO expensive, which we had not expected. But a lovely city and friendly people.

Christchurch was amazing friendly people loads to do! We ran out of time! Awesome how it has been rebuilt well done x We went to the Novotel at the airport where you can have a meal and watch the planes come in. The Airforce Museum is an absolute must an awesome collection of aircraft and stories. Wish we had more time to read them all. The Botanical Gardens were beautiful.. it would be amazing to see more when things start blooming. The museum was being renovated but we saw a beautiful collection of photographs that make you realise what a wonderful world we are in.

Only a short visit here this trip. Explored the inner city area around the river and the market place was good for eating out. Took a short bus trip & thought it was great to be able to buy a paper ticket with cash on the bus.

I lived in Christchurch twice before the earthquake.

I lived in Christchurch twice before the earthquake. This time I walked and used the excellent bus service. So many things to see. Great coffee shops. Excellent food. Very easy to access travel without a car. Stayed in Christchurch but had an historic train journey to Dunedin and an overnight stay in Akaroa. Walking always revealed surprises. New buildings and historic cottages helped me remember and add new experiences. Highly recommend the gondola ride. The staff and facilities at the new library were very helpful. The art museum (free) was worth visiting more than once.

This was just a quick trip, have visited Christchurch before & just love it & how it’s bounced back after the earthquakes. Love how they have developed the CBD & it’s very convenient that there’s lots to see so close to town.

A beautiful hotel in Christchurch CBD with lovely rooms. The room itself had everything we needed, was clean and had a super comfy bed. Unfortunately, we could not get the air conditioning low enough and struggled in the heat to get ready to head out to event. It was a warm summer weekend with the sun streaming into the room, which made it unbearably hot and stuffy from approx 8am onwards. We were unable to reach someone on reception until we went down in person. The rooftop bar and cocktails were great.

The history of the place was interesting and brought personality to the stay. The code worked well and you could move around the place very independently. It was easy to get to the destination by bus from the airport (bus 3 to Christchurch Hospital and from there bus 7 stops almost in front of the door). The hostel also has many different places to sit and work in peace. A small yard is nice! There is also quite cheap and good take away food places near by. I would definately stay again :)

Budget hotel near airport - about 20min walk from room to departure lounge....less if you don't have luggage. Half the walk had covered area. If it rains may be a problem. Good for early morning flights. Countdown and mall was just next door. The mall had good selection of restaurants (Chinese, Mexican, Burger and Cafe) and fast foods (McD, KFC, Subway)

Great relaxed atmosphere for our family. We loved the pool. We paid extra for the buffet breakfast which was varied and plentiful. The food was really lovely. It is so close to the airport with free transfers but we weren't affected by any noise. We would definitely use the hotel again if we were flying out of Christchurch.
