The hotel was located conventiently near both the train and the ferry terminal. When attempting to check in before 15:00 the desk clerk was extremely rude, interrupting and admonishing me for arriving early before I could even introduce myself. We ended up having to wait until 50 minutes after official check-in time to have access to our room. We booked the Presidential Suite and were very disappointed with it. It was old and dated, with dirty carpet, dusty surfaces and missing both the bathrobes and slippers that were listed as provided amenities. Also, it is very annoying to have a mini-bar but no prices.
There was no telephone in the room so the only way to contact the staff was by going to the front desk and waiting in line. The property is very dated and in serious need of a renovation. In addition, the staff could use a refresher course in customer courtesy.

My trip to Kristiansand was primarily to visit my son . The city is very nice during the summer and believe that there are more activities, but not much to do during the winter , not unless it’s for shopping 🛍

Nearby water park and zoo (Dreypark) was fantastic, we spent the whole day there. Ferry ride from Lillesand to Kristiansand on the M/B Oya was spectacular, highly recommended to see the coast and small villages nestled among the islands. Book ahead to make sure you get on. We took the ferry one way and then took the city bus back to pick up the cars in Lillesand. Many restaurants to choose from in the downtown area.

Norway is stunning and beautiful.
Norway is stunning and beautiful. Kristiansand is the jumping off point after arriving on the Ferry from Hirtshals, Denmark. The drive along the southern coast is absolutely amazing. I would love to go back.
The hotel is very nice, very clean. The family room was perfect with two bunk beds and fantastic view on the titular bystranda. The breakfast was perfect. There even was a wafflemaker with waffles concoction. Perfect, very Scandinavian!
What's also great is that the hotel is connected with Aquarama aqua park so you don't have to leave the building when you're going there. You can also lend towels at the reception since Aquarama doesn't provide them.
I loved the location, right in downtown Kristiansand, surrounded by restaurants, supermarkets with easy access to busses and trains. I would recommend it for short and longer stays.
It's a new hotel, everything was brand new, so I don't really have any complaints. The shared areas were clean throughout my stay.
Perfect place for children. They could freely play around in the area, play with animals, pickup eggs for breakfast, play footfall, there is a trampoline. Great place to stay if you plan to go to Dyreparken, its just few mins driving.
We were in a cottage 2 floors, clean and warm with floor heating.
During my six week trip through Norway, this hotel had, without a doubt, the finest and most appetizing looking breakfast of all the hotels. The hotel is a short, easy walk from the train and bus stations and is in the center of the town square, next to the cathedral.
Very very nice hotel. Staff at the reception desk ALWAYS so nice and willing to help. Check in and check out was easy and fast. Rooms are spacious, clean. One bus that takes you straight from airport to the center of Kristiansand and the hotel. 100% would come back.
The hotel I located in the walking street of the City which makes it easy to get a round town. You have all the facilities needed, and there is also a good variety of restaurants. The connected restaurant to the Hotel is EGON, were also the breakfast is.
Never had so much choice for breakfast before. Exceptional and very fresh. Funky hotel was very quiet but this is end of Jan so not a popular time.
Room nice size, no view to speak of but not there for the view from the room.
Very comfortable stay
BREAKFAST,WAS OK LOTS TO CHOOSE FROM VERY NICE ,GOOD DINNING AREA.
LOCATION, WAS IN THE TOWN SO HAD TO PARK THE CAR IN THE HOTEL CAR PARK WHICH WAS NEXT DOOR TO THE HOTEL ENTRANCE WHICH WORKED FINE.
ROOM, WAS FINE BUT NO PLUG IN THE BATHROOM SINK,
The Dyreparken Hotell was adjacent to the zoo and had a zoo themed interior and a pirate ship anchored outside. It would be a fun place for families. A bus stop near the hotel makes it an easy trip to Kristiansand center.
Clean, modern, great bed, windows I could open for fresh air and could also control the heat and light from a console at the door. Slept very well and the blinds made the room completely dark, a good thing in June in Norway.
Hotel staff were really nice and helpful. The accommodation is good with a great view through the window (sea view room). The location is great as well; I would definitely recommend it and would stay here again.
Everhthing: the house atmosphere, unique interior, quite surroundings, lots of light inside. Kitchen had all you can need to cook, bed was comfy. Great Norway house experience!!
The location is good, all shops and restaurants are nearby. 10minutes driving to Dyreparken. Short walking distance to Aquarama bad. Good service, polite staff
