Everything was just perfect, Very friendly staff, a very well designed hotel lobby and breakfast area with beautiful art prints. A bonus was the free coffee/tea bar all day long. It was convenient for my appointment at Moa, Spjelkavik. The reasonably-priced room had a decent work desk and a pleasant ambience. The buffet supper (Mondays to Thursdays), included in the room rate, was an unexpected bonus. The breakfast was excellent. You avoid having to drive into the town centre, where the hotels are filled with tourists.

The house is really nicely furnished and well equipped with everything you need. The lounge and bed were both very comfortable and there’s nice views from the deck. Ideally you would have a car as it’s a little way to the centre of town. Highly recommended!

Nice location for all sorts of excursions; viewing the close city, going for hikes in the area, visiting the famous Geiranger - which one can do with a 4 h boat trip each way. We found Alesund more interesting than eg. Bergen (which has loads of tourists).

A two night stay gave us one complete day in Alesund.

A two night stay gave us one complete day in Alesund. Well worth walking up the 418 steps to the viewpoint. I would recommend Racoon bakery, delicious cinnamon bun and hot chocolate. Unfortunately the glass studio was temporarily closed.

Ålesund, per se, is not a major attraction.

Ålesund, per se, is not a major attraction. However, this nice city is an excellent starting point to explore the surroundings spectacular fjords, drive the Atlantic road, and eventually go to other regions. That was what we did and it went extremely well. Weather seems to be colder and wetter here than upper north and on the south of the country, therefore the travelling period should be carefully chosen.

A very pretty town and setting.

A very pretty town and setting. Town mostly rebuilt following devastating fire in 1904, so, many building have Art Nouveau influence. Art Nouveau and Alesund museum both worth a visit. A very walkable small city. Really enjoyed our two days here.

Wonderful little pearl of a city in Norway's west coast. The venice of Norway! Plenty of great good, both street and good restaurants and good beer. Plenty of things to do; hiking, museums, aquarium, etc.

What I liked about Ålesund is that it is a real city (...

What I liked about Ålesund is that it is a real city (population 59,000) with its own culture and not just a tourist trap consisting of hotels, cafés, and souvenir shops that exist soley for the sake of the cruise ships. Therefore there are several top restaurants in town (which are not cheap, however!) Very popular with the locals as well as out of town visitors. (Restaurants: Bro, Apotekergata No.5, & XL Diner) The historical district is extra-beautiful because of the famous 1904 fire and art nouveau reconstruction which adds special flavor to it unmatched elsewhere. Makes for some cute museums as well. The Aksla viewpoint is a manageable hike and well worth it (418 + steps)! Plenty to do for 2-3 days but a great place also to relax and hang out longer if you are in to boating, walking beautiful streets, side-walk cafés, local culture, etc. Easy access to Geiranger fjord and Troll's Road too!

Excellent Breakfast. Location is damm good, touching the sea. Walking distance. Very friendly staff. Must play the game in reception area. Very good seating area in the lobby. Parking is freee after 5pm in nearby roads (just 1min away). Old town (German style) is just talking distance. You can actually see Alesund in 1hr by walking. Must visit Aksla View Point (can go by car in 10mins drive) or can walk up (entrance is just 100ft away from Hotel).

I was pleasantly surprised by the room, it clearly has been renovated a short time ago and was nicely designed and a good size. Additionally I had a great view of the water! Location could not have been better as you got access to the famous hike literally behind the hotel and had the best views of Ålesund. Breakfast had a great selection and parking was right underneath the hotel with direct access to the rooms, at additional cost.

Owner was super helpful. The TV was only tuned to Apple and without an account we couldn't watch anything - the owner lent us his personal account to watch it - we discovered Ted Lasso! Thanks for that. Apartment is superbly located right opposite Ålesund Kirk, a short walk down into town. The criticisms below are minor, this is a great place to stay, and much cheaper than a single room in a good hotel

A nice hotel very central in Ålesund. The restaurant was closed so we didn't get the possibility to try it out. However the breakfast in the morning was very nice. To put it as I normally do: "There was everything that I expected.". Getting from the hotel to the airport was easy as the Airport coach was almost around the corner at Skateflukaia.
