Lovely little village totally destroyed during the second world war but totally rebuilt, quaint open areas lots of bars and restaurants in all directions, everyone we met was friendly and polite and enjoyed a conversation at every opertunity, well worth a stop, Overloon is only up the road with a huge WW2 museum to look around and the British cemetery for the fallen there too it's a great visit ( if you like your war history)

Venray appears very new - comparatively modern buildings -...

Venray appears very new - comparatively modern buildings - but it is definitely a weekend social centre with lots of cafes and restaurants. It also is quite a shopping town with lots of different shops ranged between the two main 'squares'. Heavily pedestrianised and loads of bicycles (it is Holland after all) it is a great place to stop and take a coffee. I can't advise about car parking as it was a short walk from the Hotel to the town so did stroll around a lot. There a quite a number of fascinating sculptures - including one that looked like a Hare and had a poem attached! Try the Greek Restaurant int the Square - great food and good value

Venray town centre is vibrant with a wide selection of cafes...

Venray town centre is vibrant with a wide selection of cafes and bars - and a superb ale bar (Goesting). The town has a friendly feel and is clean and tidy with the large church with its carillion chiming out regularly. We were there to see the nearby Overloon War Graves Cemetery - and there is another in Venray itself. They are well worth a visit - as well as the massive cemetery for the 32,750 German soldiers who died in the Netherlands at Ysselsteyn - also worth a visit to get a sense of the sheer scale of the loss of life - most on both sides being conscripts with no choice but to fight. The Overloon War Museum is immense with many interesting exhibits. Give yourself plenty of time to see it.

The town is very beautiful, well-kept, and quaint, with plenty of restaurants, shops, and bars. We ate at the Swann Hotel Restaurant, which overlooks one of the town's main squares. Venray is close to the highway, and getting around the town is easy on foot and by bike.

We're from the Achterhoek region. Venray is much the same. It's excellent for walking and cycling, with beautiful scenery. Roermond is a nice town nearby. There are also many vegetable and blueberry farms to explore.

Venray has many convenient amenities, such as several supermarkets including three Jumbo stores and one Albert Heijn, many restaurants offering takeaway, etc. The area also boasts many attractions, such as Maasduinen National Park, the Overloon War Museum, and the only German military cemetery in the Netherlands, located in Ysselsteyn, etc.

The hotel was in an ideal location - quiet yet not too far from the centre of Venray to walk to the restaurants there. The breakfasts were excellent. The room was clean and comfortable and the TV even had an English station. We had a small gathering of 5 friends from the local area on our first evening and the service then was good. The indoor courtyard area was very pleasant to sit in for that.

Great hotel with lovely owners that will literally do anything to make their guest's stay a little more comfortable. We arrived early and due to some health issue requested a very early check in, absolutely no problem. Great room, dark! Very comfy beds. Location of the hotel is perfect, amazing breakfast and they have a very interesting dinner menu as well. Great ambience in the restaurant!

Lovely fires in lobby. Made a very welcoming feel. Attentive staff, really comfortable beds. Meat and cereals, fruit lovely for breakfast. Evening meal beautiful, especially sitting by the window. Lovely atmosphere. Lovely hotel!!!!!!
