The property is set in stunning countryside and offers secure parking for a motorbike (closed barn). The room and bathroom were spacious and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was fabulous and had a jacuzzi bath (very relaxing). Outside had a lovely seating area in which to enjoy the warm evenings. The breakfast was delivered to our room at a time of our choosing and was FANTASTIC! The best continental breakfast I have had in a very long time. Bob, our host was charming, so helpful and welcoming. We loved staying here and if we return to the area, we will definitely book in again. Thank you Bob ( and Tessa the dog) for a truly wonderful stay.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Bourtange. It’s a very beautiful historic village within the walls of a fort. Very peaceful and quiet as my visit was in early spring. I had an excellent meal at ‘s Lands Huys.

Bourtange is a wonderful example of a Seventeenth Century star fort. There are lots of interesting features to explore and discover. The two bar/restaurants in the centre provide excellent meals and drinks.

Wonderful hosts. A delicious breakfast too. A charming cottage. Beautiful plants outside, and cozy interior with all the amenities. Bourtange is a beautiful historic village. The surrounding area is lovely for cycling and walking. Definitely worth a visit.

It's a pleasant place to be, but one night's sleep is enough...

It's a pleasant place to be, but one night's sleep is enough. We had a delicious meal there, and the fortress is beautiful to see. We were surprised to see that people actually live there permanently.

Nice rooms in old fortress buildings Well equipped rooms and with good mattresses (firm, which I personally like) Decent breakfast in a separate fortress building Two restaurants a few steps away on the central square Bourtange is a very beautiful location, especially towards the evening, when the majority of the day-tourists are gone. Very quiet at night.

Comfortable little cottage which is beautifully decorated in the idyllic setting of Bourtange. It is detached with it's own lovely outside area. We had a great time and wished we could have stayed longer. We regret not ordering the breakfast as there were limited options in the village.
