A very nice little hotel in the heart of Groningen just a 10 min walk from the station. The design is fascinating. Despite being in historic centre and historic building, the room and the bathroom are very new and good sized, with everything you can think of, including even earplugs! The personnel are caring and helpful: they even warned me that there is a pub downstairs and it might be noisy and gave me a chance to reconsider my booking. But it was February and Sunday night, so it was quiet and peaceful. Enjoyed my stay!

Our weekend at Van der Valk Hotel Groningen-Hoogkerk was simply delightful! From the warm welcome to the thoughtful amenities. The room was spacious, comfortable, and impeccably clean, providing the perfect retreat after exploring Groningen. Our puppy was overjoyed to find a ball waiting for him in the room—a thoughtful touch that made his tail wag with excitement. The food selection at the hotel's restaurant was broad, and the meals were delicious. The staff were exceptionally attentive, making our stay truly special. Can't wait to return!

My room was very wide and with an outstanding view on the town. The personnel was smiling and very polite. You can park one hour in front of the hotel for loading/unloading. The hotel also has its parking for a reasonable price. Very well positioned too

Comfortable bed.

Comfortable bed. Downside breakfast poor, advised re allergies and fir gluten free for one of the party but unable to accommodate. In many a hotel when requested milk in our own drinking cup so that we can give our daughter her medication, we have never been charged for such but not here, charged more than a litre would have cost at the shop. They didn't even have any equipment to clean. Some of the butter was out of date, staff informed but not taken away. Had dessert but quite expensive for what we got. Disappointed Would avoid the hotel next time

It was just an overnight stopover before the ferry to...

It was just an overnight stopover before the ferry to Eemshaven. Aduard itself is rural, probably best suited for walking and cycling. Groningen city center is about 10-15 minutes away (parking there is expensive). We didn't have time to visit the monastery. Anyone who doesn't want to stay in Groningen, for whatever reason, will find this a good option.

The illuminated tractor parade that passed the hotel was fun. Beds needed replacing. Only after booking two rooms did we get the third room with a terrace. We had booked this luxury, and that's what you pay for.

We think the hotel was fine for a short stay.

We think the hotel was fine for a short stay. But that's always a personal preference. We arrived very late. We called ahead to be sure, but it wasn't a problem for the hotel! Unfortunately, the room was missing a hairdryer. A quick call to reception, however, and it was sorted. The breakfast is excellent, everything you'd expect.

The room was small, but otherwise large enough.

The room was small, but otherwise large enough. Everything you need was there. Breakfast was fine and there was plenty of choice. However, the bathroom was very small. The sink was tiny, you couldn't sit properly on the toilet without bumping your knee, and the shower wasn't large either.

We were upgraded to a more spacious room. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom and separate toilet were clean and modern. The hotel is very spacious. The value for money is excellent. The staff is very friendly. There's outdoor play equipment for the children.

This was my second time at this hotel. The staff is very friendly, the breakfast is delicious and the rooms are big and spacious. This time, I was in a more modern room, which was a bit nicer than last time.
