Only in extremely rare instances you find a hotel that leaves such a lasting impression. In my experience of over 45 years of travel the Dusit Princess Melaka is such a hotel. Not only by its location or the building, but by the wonderful and heartwarming staff. From the doorman to the executive chef, the commercial director, the F&B manager, the restaurant host or the life guard at the pool they have been an example of what a warm, caring and intelligent hotel staff is all about. They recognize you as one of their guests, no matter how busy the place is, they offer a kind of personalized service without ever being obtrusive. They are what makes a 5 star hotel an outstanding 5 star hotel. Not by going through the robotic movements you find in several, worldwide, 5 star hotels, but by having selected these great, warm, people. They should be an inspiration to all Dusit hotel personnel. T his hotel is highly, highly, recommended. For the hotel standard, but above all, for the personnel. After all: it’s the people that make the experience. I can’t wait to revisit this hotel. Melaka itself is a smaller town with, despite being a tourist destination, very nice and hospitable people. The town itself boasts a lot of its long history with the Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch and British. The former City hall, het Stadthuys, is now a beautiful and informative museum. Definitely worth a visit. All that on only a 2 hour drive from KL.
