Very relaxed and beautiful place 10 minute drive from Bacalar. Everyone there was so friendly and helpful which made the stay that much more special. Kayaks and stand up paddle boards can be used for free so they were great to take out. Breakfast was lovely as well! Couldn’t recommend more!

I don’t normally write reviews of plats so like as I like to keep them secret! But these people really deserve one!! Really beautifully and thoughtfully done. Plenty of space and a nice mix of coziness and openess. Lovely room on platform in the trees. Very comfortable beds. Very good food.

This hotel was more than amazing! The staff - Ferdi, Rachell, the elderly boat driver, and everyone were the nicest, kindest, most helpful people🙏🏻 The rooms were beautifully decorated, huge and the bed was so comfortable! The water front rooms right on the lagoon were spectacular to just go for a swim when you want. I could permanently move in here!

We liked the Hotel Rio for it's location close to the Belize border, as we were crossing into Belize the next morning. The border is only a coiuple of minutes drive away. Secure parking, a small swimming pool, nice yard and quiet location. The bed was comfortable, shower was good, and the hotel was easy to find.

We came to Hotel Playa Laguna Front to unplug, relax, and enjoy the lagoon -- and that's exactly what we did for 5 days. The hotel is in a prime location, sitting at perhaps the most colorful, swimmer-friendly part of the lagoon. You can tell it's a prime spot because a lot of boat tours end around this area to let people swim in the lighter waters there near the cenote. It's also only a couple kms from the town center, so you can easily get into town while still having enough distance from the more touristy center. The hotel itself isn't a fancy upscale place, but that's not what we were looking for. Nonetheless the hotel is new and the facilities are clean/modern with great bathrooms. The hotel is run by a lovely team who were really accommodating...big thanks to the manager Evaristo for always being there to help with any questions. Another great thing is that the kayaks and sup-boards are free to use from 6am to 6pm. The only day you can't use them is on Wednesday when no water activities (other than swimming) are allowed across the lagoon. Wednesdays are conservation days, with inactivity allowing the lagoon to restore itself.

Very relaxed and beautiful place 10 minute drive from Bacalar. Everyone there was so friendly and helpful which made the stay that much more special. Kayaks and stand up paddle boards can be used for free so they were great to take out. Breakfast was lovely as well! Couldn’t recommend more!

We came to Hotel Playa Laguna Front to unplug, relax, and enjoy the lagoon -- and that's exactly what we did for 5 days. The hotel is in a prime location, sitting at perhaps the most colorful, swimmer-friendly part of the lagoon. The hotel itself isn't a fancy upscale place, but that's not what we were looking for. Nonetheless the hotel is new and the facilities are clean/modern with great bathrooms. The hotel is run by a lovely team who were really accommodating...big thanks to the manager Evaristo for always being there to help with any questions. Another great thing is that the kayaks and sup-boards are free to use from 6am to 6pm. The only day you can't use them is on Wednesday when no water activities (other than swimming) are allowed across the lagoon. Xul-Ha is amazing for anyone who wants to have a break from the busy city life and escape into nature. This isn't for someone who is looking for many things to do but rather for someone who wants to get lost in the beautiful scenery of Mexico. Here you can find wild snakes, monkeys, and other cool animals. You can dive in the lake, paddle, kayak, get lost in a book on a hammock... It's perfect for isolating yourself for a while to do work or recollect yourself before going back to the business of everyday life.
