Amazing hotel near the beach. The view to the sea was incredible. We slept so well there everything was very neat and good quality. Also the receptionist lady that welcomed up was the sweatest.. Breakfast on menu was delicious. Thanks for the amazing experience

Great hotel if you want to avoid the busy strip of Mahahual. The rooms are clean and spacious. The pool is awesome if you want to avoid the busy beach. We rented bikes at the hotel which we used to go in to town (5 min) or to the strip (10 min). The reception helped us with arranging the colectivo from- and to- Bacalar which was really helpful!

I stayed in the mini cabanas for about 1 week. Having lived in and traveled through the eastern coast of Mexico, this location is by far one of my favorites of all time! Staying in The cabanas was a great new experience for me!! The cabanas are seemingly the most private rooms on the property. They sit right across from the beautiful beach club & beach. I could see the beauty, smell the freshness, and hear the ocean from my porch. The town is fairly quiet and small, with a little action from the cruise ships every once in a while. Miguel works the front desk of the Blue Kay, and he was one of the highlights of my stay. He was extremely pleasant and very helpful. He even helped me extend my stay when I messed up my booking online. His customer service is phenomenal! Even when he wasn't feeling 100% well, he was still so pleasant and gave better customer service than one could ask for! I absolutely love the property, I loved the people there, and enjoyed everything about the town. I will ALWAYS stay at Blue Kay!!!

Mahahual was rundown and uncared for.

Mahahual was rundown and uncared for. For a tourist destination we noticed a lot of uncollected rubbish on the beaches and the tourist spots needed a refresh. It is highly recommended for diving as they have a reef but again the seaweed is a major problem and has not been tackled by the local authorities bearing in mind that swimming is the main activity there.

A quiet place with laid-back vibe.

A quiet place with laid-back vibe. Busy when cruise ships are in town, but they leave in the evening and the town is quiet at night. A good alternative to the crazy scene in Cancun, Cozumel or anywhere to the north. Snorkeling is not that good, but apparently the diving is good on the outer reef. The hotel's small freshwater pool was refreshing and the beach was cleaned and raked every day. Good birding too.

I really enjoyed the calmness of Mahahual!

I really enjoyed the calmness of Mahahual! Nice little beaches which feel more like a pool. If you are looking to Party, this is not the place to go. There are only a couple bars that put music at night, but it is no Tulum, Cancun or Playa del Carmen! It is more a town where you come to relax on the beach, snorkel and then chill on your balcony or on the beach while drinking calmly! I really enjoyed the chill vibe of the city! The little stores close early, but there are always grocery stores and restos that stay open later!

Aquastar was well located right on the Malecon. Easy walking distance to lots of restaurants. Yes, it was right on the beach; but, not an area nice enough to get into the water. Too much seaweed. You had to walk to a nice beach,

Nice fishermen's village with good restaurants. Very rustic in terms of hotels and restaurants. The beach is clean and nice, clean water. However, it does suffer from the same problem of all beaches from Cancun up to here: lots of seawater. So cleaneless will depend how often they clean the seaweed. Overall is a place to go once; no need to return, but glad I went. Food cost can be expensive for what they are.

Sleepy boring town with nothing to do but relax and enjoy the sea. There are a bunch of snorkeling and diving locations if you're into that. An excellent place to slow down and forget about the world. A few quirks: The nearby waterpark was closed because there was no cruise ship. Same for the dolphin park, and by extension the entire touristy cruise port, is off-limits for 'regular' tourism according to the guard at the entrance there. So you can't get your fridge magnets and tshirts from there... Half of the town is closed when there are no cruise ships. As if regular tourism doesn't matter or is not worth working for. The difference with restaurants, shops and tours being offered was night and day when a cruise boat docked on Sunday. Good stuff: A laidback atmoshphere thorughout town. Not much annoying sales people. Some decent restaurants that have a good price/quality balance. Other than the relaxed and fun strip of mahahual there isn't much to do. Which is great if you just want to relax and enjoy some food or drinks like we did. And for that, our trip was too short (3 nights) but with the average hotel we had and few restaurant options that were open and not overpriced, 3 nights was just right I suppose. The ride to Mahahual is an easy one, about 60KM from the main road, and that's the time where the world literally disappears in the background as you enter and enjoy the slow pace of Mahahual.

Good location of the hotel (close to the beach and shops but away from the noise). Nice architecture and decoration (just a bit worn and unmaintained). Also room and bathroom interestingly architecturally designed. Nice amenities in the room. Good sleeping arrangements (bed and linen). Pleasant pool inside the hotel. Nice staff. During our second stay we had a much better room where the light was not working either, but it was fixed right away.

The house was beautiful. Two nice bedroom, living room and fully equipped kitchen. A very nice garden. The location in Mahahual was perfect - in a residential area away from the beach, which we really enjoyed due to the Sargazo-situation, and away from the cruise ship terminal. The owner was very responsive and helpful.

Everythig! For me, this is the nicest place in Mahahual. No in Quintana Roo. We came to spent here 2 nights and we stend 7 in total. Love it. This cabañas with the view to the sea and all the palms and very super nice personal. ❤️❤️❤️ all perfect. Muchas graciaaaas!
