The location is fantastic! Close to the main strip and the main beach. Very quiet at night too. The massage was excellent and golf car hire - definitely recommend! Staff were all lovey and very helpful.

Everyone at the hotel was eceptionally courtieous and helpful. Our stay at the hotel felt welcomed. The facility was clean and spcious. The bed was comfy and luxurious as well. Despite the high heat and humidity on the island, the airconditioning made the room feel comfortable. The meals at breakfast were deliscious and memorable in their presenation and flavors. My favorite part is how the building is designed, the decor, and the landscaping of the property. It was so beautiful, I was reluctant to leave to go on any outings and definitley sad to leave to return home. When we return to the island, my boyfriend and I will certainly be staying here again!! You get so much value and more for what you pay for!

The location is on the east side which has rocky beaches. Beautiful!!... but not for swimming. The island is narrow so walking to the west side or north beaches was very doable. Good restaurants are everywhere nearby with the main pedestrian-only street two blocks to the west. An attached restaurant has decent, basic breakfast and brunch. Every employee we came in contact with was friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was very spacious with a large balcony with chairs. The room came with a/c and a ceiling fan both, which we loved. The water pressure for the shower and faucet was great. The refrigerator had a seperate freezer which came in handy. Overall the hotel was very quiet. It was nice to get away from the crowds and wind down. Definitely recommend.

Everything we needed was at the hotel. We liked staying away from the busy Centro area. The food was delicious and all of the staff were very helpful and polite. I recommend booking a massage on the beach. It was the perfect way to relax with the sound of the water and the warm breeze.

The former hidden gem of low-cost Margarita-ville- like Isla...

The former hidden gem of low-cost Margarita-ville- like Isla Mujeres has been "discovered" but it is still a lot less expensive, and more "Mexican" can glitchy over-priced Cancun and Playa Norte is still a fun, white sand beach where you can wade out 100 meters into the warm crystal clear water and still not be over your head.

It is a beautiful island and we stayed in the south of the island in a beautiful small mexican Hotel La Joya which was just perfect. Very quiet in the evenings but if you have a buggy you could go further afield in the evening. . If you like busy, overpriced hectic beaches then Punta Norte would be better for you. We hired a golf buggy and it was very easy to drive around the island. I liked the old Mayan ruins which was only a 20minutes walk from the hotel along the cliff top for sunrise, stunning easy walk. We ate nearby at the Art Gallery and Taco restaurant both had lovely food but the Art Gallery was really lovely. I am not a Taco fan but had to try them!

We were there during mid-November.

We were there during mid-November. The rainy season was coming to an end. It rained but only for an hour or so and quickly moved on. It was off-season, so there were smaller crowds (still crowded though). Most of the north end is walkable. To enjoy the island the most, rent a golf cart for at least one day. Rentals are plentiful. We recommend "MEGA rentadora Ciro's" on Av. Guerrero MZA 1 LTE 6, Centro - Supmza. 001, 77400 Isla Mujeres, Q.R.. Newer carts at a very good price. There are plenty of activities across the island but the views and history of Punta Sur makes it well worth a visit. We were afraid the restaurants along the pedestrian-only road would be over-priced and not very good, but we were wrong. We had several meals in Centro that were very good and the prices were comparable to the rest of the island.

In the 1990s, Isla was less-developed with fewer beach hotels. The entire north end was one large beach with unpaved streets, rather primitive and exotic, and the experience was low cost. Over the years the beach has lost a lot of sand due to some severe hurricanes and sand-bag berms have been built out to prevent more erosion. The streets were paved with block pavers and the addition of hotels has brought more tourists. These changes are probably inevitable considering the growth direction of tourism and its economic importance, but it's been more or less as it is now for the last 20 years in which we've visited many times. Compared to Playa Del Carmen which has changed dramatically, and Tulum which now has an international airport, it's kept its essential character by being isolated from the rest of the coast, and is still a great place to unwind, snorkel, and stroll the streets, beaches and rocky north coast. There is a singular charm about the island and it's residents and labor force that ferry over from Cancun, that keeps us coming back and I hope that never changes. The restaurants, to their credit, have improved over the years and that is a pleasant advancement.

The property was in an excellent location right on Playa Norte beach which is the best beach on the island! It was quiet in the evenings and just a short walk into town for dinner in the many restaurants. The bedroom was huge, the room and all of the amenities were great & the bed was very comfortable. Staff at the hotel reception were very friendly and very helpful. A particular thanks to Diego on the front desk who was fantastic!

First of all the music at the Restaurant/Bar in front of the hotel stops at 11pm, so at least for us it was not an issue. That said, it's not a luxury hotel (it's a 3 star). In any case, it provides an excellent price vs cost ratio. Definitely recommended!
