We spent two unforgettable weeks at the Anakao villa (March 2023). It was our first time at Mauritius. If you’re driving by car at night - pay attention- it is easy to miss. The location is convenient if you plan to travel a lot around the island. We used it as a base to go to locations north and south. After a long journey, we had a great welcome by the by super friendly hotel manager Ben and his dog Zuru. Ben told us all the sights we need to visit and other local advice (groceries, beaches, rhumeries etc. ) We were staying in the red room. It was big, nice and clean. We had access to a big balcony with view to the garden. The swimming pool was great and we spent a lot of time either in or around the pool. We enjoyed the view from the swimming pool every day! Although, there’s no sandy beach, there’s a carved out access to the ocean, where you can swim, kayak ( gear available) or snorkel. The hotel also provides swimming shoes to protect against steeping sharp stones. We were thinking of going out for dinner every night, but the dinner at the Villa was so delicious that we ate there every night. Especially, we liked the desserts. There I tasted the best cheesecake in my life. We actually had a true 5 star service. It was raining, so we ordered by phone from the kitchen and they brought the food under an umbrella! Somehow we really felt treated well. The Villa ambiance was very relaxing and family-oriented, all the staff was super friendly and supportive.

The hosts Mirella and Josian (and family) were an absolute delight.On day 1 when I arrived without food Josian took me to the large Jumbo Supetmarket a few Kms away in his van to stock up.Also on Saturday I was invited to a family New Year,s Party.I was made to feel included without my privacy being compromised. The apartment was wonderful,large and airy with nice little touches such as an umbrella.The fridge and microwave worked well and there was always hot water in the shower. There is a basic food and drink shop available 1 minute across the way.The property is very safe and I didn't, feel uncomfortable wandering around,but there were one or two characters around who could easily be avoided. Breakfast was delivered to the room at a time to suit by Mirella.There was always a variety of fruits and a large baguette with a range of spreads.Tea and coffee was also provided in the room. Transport to Port Louis and the coastal beaches are regular and from a very nearby bus stop All in all an unforgettable experience

The host was excellent. The apartment at Port Louis was fine with everything we needed. We couldn't get the TV to work but didn't bother the host about this small matter. If we go again, we will definitely stay further south near the beaches.

It took my two days to explore Port Louis. I enjoyed very much the look from the top of the mountain in Port Louis and the waterfront even though the prices at the waterfront are high. We spend 9 days in Mauritius and enjoyed our day trips to different parts of the country.

We hired a taxi to take us up to the Citadel and around the city. It has some interesting colonial buildings. We arrived at Port Louis at the end of our cruise - the apartment was not far from the port. We used the same taxi driver to take us up the Northern Beaches (well worth visiting) and he also drove us to the airport for our flight to Dubai.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Champs De Mars Apartment during my recent short visit to Mauritius, and I can't say enough good things about it! From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the charming and cozy atmosphere that this apartment offers. First and foremost, the location is fantastic. Situated right next to the iconic Champs De Mars Racecourse, the apartment offers stunning views and a unique atmosphere that you won't find anywhere else on the island. It's also conveniently located near shops, restaurants, and public transportation, making it easy to explore all that Mauritius has to offer. Moreover, the apartment's security was excellent. The apartment itself is impeccably clean, well-maintained, and beautifully decorated. The interior design is tasteful and modern, providing a welcoming and homely ambiance. The spacious living area is perfect for relaxation and entertaining, and the kitchen is fully equipped with all the amenities you need to prepare your own meals if you wish. One of the highlights of the Champs De Mars Apartment is the balcony, which overlooks the racecourse. The breathtaking views of the races and the lush greenery are truly a unique experience that adds a special touch to your stay. The host, Adam is incredibly accommodating and friendly, always ready to assist with any questions or requests you may have. Their warm welcome and local insights enhanced my stay in Port Louis , making it even more memorable.

Traffic in Port Louis is very busy so allow extra time if...

Traffic in Port Louis is very busy so allow extra time if you need to travel anywhere. You will need consider this when ordering a taxi. There was nothing open near the villa to walk to besides the beach/boat dock area. This was cleaned everyday by the local authority and included toilets.

Plenty to do and visit. Street food is safe to eat. So give your tastebuds a treat whether sweet or savoury just be aware of 🌶️. Use local buses around the island it’s bone-rattling fun. Generally people are very helpful.

All the staff are lovely and friendly. Beautiful surroundings. Gardens and trees are lovely. Everything is in great condition. The food at the hotel is great and healthy. Bed was very comfortable. Our 2 bedroom suite was roomy. Lovely views out to sea and the sunsets can be awesome over the Indian Ocean.

The Location of Property is very close from 3 tourist attraction in port louis. The facilities provided are value for money. Hosts are helpful however they mostly communicate on whatsapp and booking.com app.
