It is in a fabulous location beside the river. Included breakfast was very rich and delicious. The restaurant offers lunch and dinner as well, and all meals were delicious. Very kind and helpful staff. Possibility of walks along the gorge, boat-trips etc. We also took a taxy to Sredne Vodno and cable-car to Millenium Cross and walked/hiked down back to Matka (cca. 12km).

Ilija was the most wonderful host we have encountered on our many, many travels so far. He made every possible effort to make our stay as pleasant as possible. What an awesome experience of staying in a traditional Macedonian village up in the hills. Rooms are great. Clean crisp bedding and towels. Superb restaurant at reasonable price with 10% off if staying. Gorgeous traditional, generous, tasty breakfast. Little shops there that sell ware made by the shop owners... silver jewelry, tasteful gifts etc. Museum in the middle with fabulous hosts explaining in many languages. The staff are excellent and friendly. Local ancient Macedonian church in beautiful settings

What a beautiful place! A pearl is hidden behind a gate. The apartment was admittedly not so easy to find. Upon arrival, we were doubly rewarded: a beautiful garden with a pool, several sitting areas, a "tea house,” a barbecue area, a fishpond ... and wonderfully lovely hosts. We were welcomed with Macedonian beer, and when it turned out that the nearby restaurant was already fully booked, Diana treated us with homemade goulash, salad, and bread. We chatted together for quite a long time - a really lovely evening! Unfortunately, we stayed only one night. The place definitely invites you to stay longer. Thank you!

I've been travelling for over 30 years, Macedonia is the country 102 I visit and only this year since January I've been to 39 cities in 19 countries in 4 continents. With my experience, I can say this is the very best apartment at this price level anyone could imagine, possibly in the world! The large space, the beautiful decoration, the quality of everything, the bathroom and kitchen finishings, the complete equipment, the little details, everything was excellent! It really puts most other places to shame for its excellent quality and the kindness of its owners. It's a short bike ride to all downtown and there's nearby parks and stores. It has been an absolute gem of a stay. Thank you!!

Restaurant: abnormally high prices for Macedonia. Untidy surrounding the hotel building. No hot water on arrival. A terrible stench (sewage smell) in the room and bathroom both upon arrival and in the morning. The bathroom lacked storage space and was unfinished.

Very poorly marked signs for Matka Canyon.

Very poorly marked signs for Matka Canyon. Locals deliberately misdirected us in the wrong direction. The road is in terrible condition. Lack of parking spaces. Lots of trash and dirt. Plastic bottles in the river.

The location is excellent. Simply beautiful.

The location is excellent. Simply beautiful. Staying in Matka isn't necessary: the restaurant is expensive, the bar closes too early, and you can't reach the hotel by car. We think it's better to stay in Skopje and set aside a day to visit Matka.

An overcrowded place with hordes of people flocking here...

An overcrowded place with hordes of people flocking here during the day. Boats zipping back and forth, loud music, litter. The only restaurant with accommodation is ridiculously overpriced. We wouldn't even come here for the day. There are better places.
