The Tinara River Inn was our best accommodation in Sri Lanka so far. It was very comfortable, spacious and clean and our host was the kindest and sweetest person, always helpful and available if we had questions. The location was near the beach as well as the centre but still quiet, with a nice view of the river from our room and the breakfast location. The breakfast was very tasty, with big portions that got the two of us through the entire day until the evening and there were different types of food almost every day. We were so happy here that we stayed two nights longer than originally planned.

We were there 4 nights during off season.

We were there 4 nights during off season. There is not much to do there in July. Especially with kids. Since the sea was to rough to swim in! Lots of wind and felt a bit like a ghost town to us. Every restaurant we went to we were the only ones! I think 2 nights would have been more than enough

Fortunately the place is not in the city of Wellgama which is bery busy, crowdy and noisy city. We resigned from spending more time in the city after 1h walk trying to find a nice area like caffees/restaurants or local small shops where you can buy some hand made staff etc.

The beach is fantastic for surfing, with great waves for both beginners and pros, while also offering calm spots perfect for relaxation. The sunrises and sunsets here are truly breathtaking, making every moment by the ocean magical. The town itself is warm and welcoming, with friendly locals, great food, and a laid-back vibe. The only minor downside is the occasional plastic waste, but with more awareness and local efforts, this paradise can be even better. Everything was beyond my expectations; the staff, the facilities, and the location. The staff Lashitha was the most hospitable, kindest person I met in Sri Lanka. He taught me many things about the country and was eager to help in every possible way. The breakfast was big and high-quality, the room was very spacious and clean. The location is perfect as well. It's close to the beach, a big supermarket and a few local eateries are nearby. I had stayed at another hotel before Mzion, and this hotel changed my experience in Weligama.

Without a doubt the best place we have stayed in Sri Lanka! Fantastic and friendly hosting with a huge breakfast + extras served every day (you will not go hungry here). The accommodation is only a stones throw from the beach yet far away from the hustle of the main road running through weligama. If you enjoy watching wildlife I would suggest booking a room with a river view balcony to see many birds at sunrise/sunset. I really cannot recommend this place enough!
