The best stay we had in Sri Lanka! The room and all the facilities were so comfortable. Room was a bit small but enough to rest, bathroom was enormous and probably the best I've seen in Sri Lanka. The host was very attentive, he welcomed us with fruit from his own garden - lovely!

This is an idyllic place to spend nice and relaxing days in the south coast! Located in a beautiful long quiet white-sand beach , secluded from the hectic beaches nearby. The property is beautiful and comfortable, great pool to complement your sea swim, very helpful and kind staff and great food. We spent 3 nights like in a dream! the hit of our two week trip to Sri Lanka. Don’t miss it!

The staff and host in this property could not have been any kinder. We were able to get our laundry done for a very fair price and the host even made us a packed breakfast as we had to leave very early morning on our departure. The location was very close to the beach and a short ride to the secret beach.

It was so enjoyable stay in lagoon gate. Caring service by all stuff is on highest level. We will never forget hospitality that we were met late at night when we arrived at the hotel. Speciality of this place is very tasty prawns and seafood that you will never find in tangalle. My very special thanks to Lali and Salinda for satisfying all the requests. And cooking man for breakfasts and very good coffee, i dont even figure out what is the secret of it ))

Beautiful location, right on the beach front. Clean and a large cabana with a verandah. Friendly staff who all stayed up late to greet us and cook dinner. Fantastic breakfast on the deck overlooking the beach and the local fishing activities.

What a gem of a place. Unbeatable views from the room, quiet, peaceful and fully relaxing. Staff is really helpful and friendly. Chef cooked up some serious dishes that were really delicious and of course - they make pizza! Room is so cozy, both the bathroom and the room had perfect natural lightning. Bed is comfy and big. Lots of gorgeous beaches nearby don’t stay on the main town beach. Take a bus to silent beach / Goyambokka beach / red beach / pallikudwua etc - you could walk from the town to Red beach and Pallikafwua too in 30 minutes Free sunbeds if you eat/ drink at the local beach bars at every beach

Tangalle is a cozy, small city where you find whatever you need. A variety of beaches in and around in both directions, some of them really hidden gems, but also quiet family beaches where you can bring your kids.

The owners and staff were delightful - the service great.

The owners and staff were delightful - the service great. The cabannes were in the style of my travels 50 years ago and a great reminder of how simple life can (and should) be. For eating there is plenty of choice in the area and all easy walking but not always in 32 deg 😂

Tangalle is a mix of typical large commercial local Sri Lankan town buzz combined with touristy beach / restaurant / bar area. Very laid back along that 'strip', many bars and restaurants vying for business so you can be selective.

Perfect place to relax by the beaches, some of them are like or similar a near private beach type; but, difficult to swim. Generally, the waves and current are rough and sometime dangerous to rocky beaches; in early morning time, 9-10 am, waves and current can be managed to some extent....

It’s more of a local sleepy town and less touristy than the rest of the south coast. Lots of great beaches and family run restaurants. I could have easily used it as a base and stayed longer had the weather been better.

The owner and everyone at shine wave are very friendly and caring. The area around the hotel is very quiet and the beach is beautiful. We also saw turtles. There are very good restaurants around as well. If you like it quiet, you will love shine wave. Also the rooms are very new and comfortable. Breakfast was good, too. Shine wave was one of the best placed we stayed at during our travel through Sri Lanka.

The place is perfectly located between the lagoon and the beach. The surroundings are astonishing with a lot of wild animals (sea turtles, monkeys, iguanas, birds). The family running the hotel is very kind and the food is amazing. The owner will help you to plan any excursion around and can also arrange it for you. For the moment, it has been the best place where we have stayed in Sri Lanka.

This is an exceptional hotel, it ticks all the boxes and the beach is one of the best we went to in Sri Lanka, totally unspoilt. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious, the rooms were large and we had a huge bed, it is what a boutique hotel should be.

Very nice hotel in a great location. Nice beach. The facilities are great, the rooms were very comfortable and clean. The coffee was the best we had in Sri Lanka! Also the breakfast was really good and the staff super helpful.

The hotel is very close to the beach. The owner took us at night to see the turtles lay eggs. We only had one dinner there but it was by far the best meal we had in Sri Lanka.. And the best bed sheets😉
