The food was good. Food was made for us even on the chef’s night off and it was delicious! The most outstanding thing about Il Frangipane, besides the wonderful blue tiled pool, was the attentiveness of the staff. Genuinely nice.

Most amazing view of the lion rock & rice fields from the veranda and while lying by the pool. The staff was super kind and forthcoming. The room is HUGE! It‘s perfect for couples and down the road is the Main Street of Sigiriya.

It is a brand new family run Hotel in an ideal location, very close to the Sigiriya Lion Rock. The rock is visible from the hotel! Lovely owner/ family were very attentive to all our requests. They even arranged a superb safari for us on request. Very safe for solo/ female travellers as well. Mr. Asanka deserves special mention as the chef. His Sri Lankan dishes are a must try! Well worth the price! Will definitely come back!

The Shakshuka breakfast was delicious, also the pasta dinner ~ as good as in Italy. Bed so comfortable, setting very peaceful. Pool was perfect for cooling down in the middle of the day and I loved watching monkeys swing through the trees while reading on a pool lounger. The owner arranged a jeep safari for me at local Eco Park ~ it was awesome to see elephants up so close!

Every member of the staff went out of their way to make our stay special — always kind, attentive, and genuinely caring. Traveling as a family, we especially appreciated how thoughtful and accommodating everyone was. The atmosphere was serene and inviting, and every detail seemed designed to ensure comfort and relaxation. Our room was spotless, beautifully maintained, and incredibly cozy. The common areas were equally lovely — ideal for both moments of peace and time together as a family. Whether it was a kind gesture at breakfast or a friendly chat at reception, we felt seen, valued, and cared for, especially my 15 months old daughter! This was more than just a stay; it was an experience of true hospitality. We left with full hearts and wonderful memories. We can’t wait to come back — thank you for everything!

I didn’t come to Sigiriya to explore the town itself, but purely for the iconic Sigiriya Rock—and it was absolutely worth it. The experience was incredible, with stunning views from the top. My friends and I climbed up for sunrise, which I highly recommend as the best time to go. Just be prepared: there are a lot of stairs—some carved directly into the rock, others metal and uneven. We visited in November just after the monsoon, so it was warm and the climb had us sweating buckets. If you plan on taking those perfect social-media photos, bring a spare T-shirt… or do what I did and let AI handle the magic! Although the ascent was tough and left us literally out of breath, the moment we reached the top made it all worth it. The views were truly breathtaking—quite fitting, since the climb already took my breath away.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed for two nights in the end as we got to sigiriya late. This meant we ate dinner one night at the little hut which wass great, climbed the rock, then moved on to the habarana which was also interesting to wander and eat.

The weather is very calm.

The weather is very calm. Recommended time to start climb is 5.45 AM. So worthy to watch the surroundings from top of the Sigiriya. You can learn a lot about Sigiriya. You can get a guide if you want from the entrance.

I’ll never forget the day we spent climbing Sigiriya.

I’ll never forget the day we spent climbing Sigiriya. And no wonder such a wonderful World Heritage Site kept popping up everywhere: Test it against the massive old fortress, the gorgeous frescoes, and images taken of landscapes from the summit, and there you’ll pick one of Sri Lanka’s greatest treasures. Not an easy or casual climb but certainly one that throws panoramic views so very far worth it and lucid into history at every step. Water gardens at the bottom quite worth a visit. One has to get there at dawn to avoid numerous tourists and scorching sun. Thus, in general, Sigiriya is a combination of artistic creation, engineering work of antiquity, and a miracle of nature, and a must-see site in Sri Lanka.

There is so much more to do in this area than I realised.

There is so much more to do in this area than I realised. I will definitely come back. The area is beautiful and we were sad to leave. We dud Pidurangala Rock which was fun, more of an adventurous climb than Lions Rock. It has incredible views of Lions Rock. We also did a safari in Minneriya National Park. The park was beautiful and we saw so many elephants plus lots of varieties of birds, golden jackals, monkees, mongoose, the grizzled giant squirrel, buffalo and jungle foul. We also went to Dambula Temple Caves which is very spiritual and Luckgrove Spice Gardens which was an incredible experience. Highly recommend this area.

A nice hike to view a breathe taking view.

A nice hike to view a breathe taking view. If anyone should travel to Sigiriya they should start to climb the rock at 5.30am as the ticket counters open. Wearing proper hiking or workout clothes would be the best.

We stayed at Tepraas Sigiriya for the past two days and we are absolutely thrilled. By far the best accommodation we've had in Sri Lanka. Spacious rooms, a fantastic pool, and incredibly helpful staff. The property itself is charming, surrounded by greenery, with adorable little squirrels running around, and we even spotted an iguana (we think! :p). The hotel staff couldn't have been more wonderful, and they helped me organize a massage and arranged a driver as well. The restaurant even had a high chair for our baby. Highly recommend!

I’m unsure to how this hotel has managed to get 5 stars if I’m honest. The rooms are so dated and dirty the fabrics throughout the hotel are disgusting. The hotel needs a full renovation. I was blown away that reception had no knowledge on sigiriya rock as this is there only attraction in the area. Also I do think reception should have basic English. Whilst we stayed we had a very strange massage and a couple of very odd dinning experience I wouldn’t need to re live.

It had beautiful surroundings and was very convenient if you wished to visit Sigiriya Rock. The hotel was beautiful and of exceptional design. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Meals were excellent. In fact one of the best places I have stayed. Would highly recommend.

Great value for money, the Sri Lankan brothers, that own and operate this beautiful little hotel were exceptional catering for all our needs. Food was some of the best my wife and I had eaten on our trip. Could not recommend highly enough thank you guys for a memorable visit to Sigiriya.
