Highlight of our Sri Lanka accommodation so far, il Frangipani is a little gem with the most hospitable and courteous staff imaginable. The breakfast is delicious and the accommodation is clean, very spacious and well equipped. Highly recommend this place as an alternative to the larger hotels on offer.

What a stunning, peaceful hotel. From the moment we arrived we instantly relaxed and unwound after lots of sightseeing and travelling in the south of the island. The hotel is new, so the room was very nice and clean. There is a terrace with a beautiful view of Lion’s Rock, where a tasty breakfast is served. The location is perfect, there are many restaurants nearby, and it’s quite close to the entrance to Lion’s Rock. The staff were very friendly and arranged a tuk-tuk for us early in the morning, as we wanted to climb Pidurangala Rock for the sunrise.

This was an excellent place. Wifi was excellent, wonderful hot shower, super clean rooms, beautiful host, great AC. Amazing food and even cooked us a beautiful pasta for lunch. Super handy to the rock and town with restaurants to eat within walking distance.

Every member of the staff went out of their way to make our stay special — always kind, attentive, and genuinely caring. Traveling as a family, we especially appreciated how thoughtful and accommodating everyone was. The atmosphere was serene and inviting, and every detail seemed designed to ensure comfort and relaxation. Our room was spotless, beautifully maintained, and incredibly cozy. The common areas were equally lovely — ideal for both moments of peace and time together as a family. Whether it was a kind gesture at breakfast or a friendly chat at reception, we felt seen, valued, and cared for, especially my 15 months old daughter! The hotel was amazing - super clean, new and had a great swimming pool. The manager, Bernard, was very helpful and friendly. He recommended places to visit and arranged all the transport for us. The breakfast was delicious. I would highly recommend this accommodation.

This was a wonderful stay with an even more wonderful family. They make some amazing food! The treehouse is on their garden (but quite private at the back sheltered by trees) and looks amazing. There are peacocks and monkeys running around the garden (or close to it) which felt like a Safari on its own (they stay a good distance away so it feels safe too). They have a cute puppy on premises who likes to play. The location is super close to the centre via Tuk tuk & the treehouse is very comfortable to stay in.

I didn’t come to Sigiriya to explore the town itself, but purely for the iconic Sigiriya Rock—and it was absolutely worth it. The experience was incredible, with stunning views from the top. My friends and I climbed up for sunrise, which I highly recommend as the best time to go. Just be prepared: there are a lot of stairs—some carved directly into the rock, others metal and uneven. We visited in November just after the monsoon, so it was warm and the climb had us sweating buckets. If you plan on taking those perfect social-media photos, bring a spare T-shirt… or do what I did and let AI handle the magic! Although the ascent was tough and left us literally out of breath, the moment we reached the top made it all worth it. The views were truly breathtaking—quite fitting, since the climb already took my breath away.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed for two nights in the end as we got to sigiriya late. This meant we ate dinner one night at the little hut which wass great, climbed the rock, then moved on to the habarana which was also interesting to wander and eat.

The weather is very calm.

The weather is very calm. Recommended time to start climb is 5.45 AM. So worthy to watch the surroundings from top of the Sigiriya. You can learn a lot about Sigiriya. You can get a guide if you want from the entrance.

I’ll never forget the day we spent climbing Sigiriya.

I’ll never forget the day we spent climbing Sigiriya. And no wonder such a wonderful World Heritage Site kept popping up everywhere: Test it against the massive old fortress, the gorgeous frescoes, and images taken of landscapes from the summit, and there you’ll pick one of Sri Lanka’s greatest treasures. Not an easy or casual climb but certainly one that throws panoramic views so very far worth it and lucid into history at every step. Water gardens at the bottom quite worth a visit. One has to get there at dawn to avoid numerous tourists and scorching sun. Thus, in general, Sigiriya is a combination of artistic creation, engineering work of antiquity, and a miracle of nature, and a must-see site in Sri Lanka.

There is so much more to do in this area than I realised.

There is so much more to do in this area than I realised. I will definitely come back. The area is beautiful and we were sad to leave. We dud Pidurangala Rock which was fun, more of an adventurous climb than Lions Rock. It has incredible views of Lions Rock. We also did a safari in Minneriya National Park. The park was beautiful and we saw so many elephants plus lots of varieties of birds, golden jackals, monkees, mongoose, the grizzled giant squirrel, buffalo and jungle foul. We also went to Dambula Temple Caves which is very spiritual and Luckgrove Spice Gardens which was an incredible experience. Highly recommend this area.

A nice hike to view a breathe taking view.

A nice hike to view a breathe taking view. If anyone should travel to Sigiriya they should start to climb the rock at 5.30am as the ticket counters open. Wearing proper hiking or workout clothes would be the best.

Clean rooms and very friendly and helpful staff. Facilities are modern and upto date. Food and service was amazing. A big plus point for the architecture. Unlike the other hotels around, Sigiriya Jungles give a more authentic experience since the architecture is inspired by the Sigiriya Kingdom itself not forgetting that the hotel has an amazing view of Sigiriya rock. The food was top notch and ask for the village cycle tour and other activities the hotel offers. Overall great place to unwind and would go there again!

A newly opened hotel featuring clean, spacious rooms and a large swimming pool. It offers great showers, air-con and Wi-Fi, and is conveniently located near restaurants and shops. The host, Bernard, is incredibly friendly and helpful, always going out of his way to assist. Would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Sigiriya.

This hotel has the best view of Sigiriya (it rivals 5-star hotels in the vicinity). The room is spacious and well laid out with plenty of shelves and seating areas. The hotel also provides a turn down service with bedtime treats — a nice touch! The spa is great too.
