This boutique hotel has an amazing history, it used to be a private residence 100 years ago. Most of the flooring tiles are original, the place has been beautifully restored, the rooms are incredible and very cozy, their beds are comfortable. I don't want to give away the story behind the beauty of this building but do stay there and ask them for a little tour around. It's absolutely fantastic.

Rosyth Estate is a wonderful little hotel in the middle of nowhere. The team was extremely welcoming and did go above and beyond, even though we only stayed there for one night. Special kudos to the best chicken curry we had ever!

People where so nice! A great experience. It was our daughters first birthday and the staff had arranged a cake and decorations. There were even decorations on the bed when we arrived. Waking up to see the elephants from your room or the pool is a beautiful experience.

This was probably my first night truly close to the jungle a very cool and unique experience. You can hear all kinds of animals and insects at night, which makes it feel incredibly immersive. The cabin is nestled in a tropical garden, right inside the jungle. There’s also a swimming pool and a restaurant at their nearby hotel, and they take you there free of charge no pressure to order. One of the highlights was being able to see elephants from the pool and restaurant without paying any extra it was honestly magical. The host, Edward, was very kind and helpful. He even woke up early to pack our breakfast, such a thoughtful gesture.

Hotel was great , we arrived at 5 am and security let us in . Restaurant was great , WiFi was good , shops are a 2 min walk up the road as is the elephant orphanage. View from our room was amazing . Elephants come right up to you . Bathroom could have been cleaner but that is my only down point . Value for money 11/10 for the experience we had There is a herb garden , elephant poo factory and tea factory that are all very interesting

Staff were very friendly and accomodating. Comfortable stay in this hotel. View of elephants ,river and surrounding countryside was excellent- especially from dining hall and verandah of some rooms facing the river. Highly recommend.

Pinnawala basically has 4 main attractions therefore a...

Pinnawala basically has 4 main attractions therefore a maximum of 2 days is sufficient. The main attraction is the elephant orphanage. Related to that is the elephant bathing at the nearby river which is fascinating. Remember the ticket you purchase for the orphanage is required for the bathing so do both in the same day as the tickets technically only valid for the day (we did not know this so we went to the orphanage in the evening and went to see the bathing the next day.. however the kind ticket officers let us go). Then there is a mini zoo where animals roam in more space than usual. You can feed animals here which could be fascinating (for a small fee). Then there is a traditional village called Iparini Gama where you can experience live style of a traditional sri lankan village.

Spectacular area to get up and close with elephants. Unique experience with elephants walking thru the village for their daily bathing. General accommodation facilities were good. Bars and eateries also of reasonable standard. We stayed at Grand Royal Pinnalanda and found this quite satisfactory in services and value.

Amazing experience to watch the elephants bathing.

Amazing experience to watch the elephants bathing. A number of souvenir shops on the street and limited food options. We ate in our hotel. Shops don't stay open late as most tourists leave for the day. 1 night is enough.

The staff were very obliging.

The staff were very obliging. We arrived at 1am, this was not a problem and they greeted us warmly. Next morning we watched elephants in river from our balcony. The events coordinator took us to a place where we could walk and swim with elephants. He stopped on side of road on way back to try coconut milk. Wonderful staff. We found the breakfast not quite to European tastes.

My girlfriend and I had an incredible stay at Peacock village. The room was very clean and well equipped. The couple who look after the property were very kind and made a delicious dinner. Getting access to the nearby Elephant Park Hotel for breakfast and use of the swimming pool was amazing. Andrew from the hotel was incredible and helped arrange our trips to and from the hotel (free of charge) and our onward journey to Sigiriya after our stay. Would highly recommend staying here!

This property belongs to Elephant park hotel group, rooms are overlooking the river although balcony area is kinda shared and it’s a passage but only for people who are living in the hotel. Breakfast was really good and plenty options. This property also have a pool. All the amenities are in a different building. Andrew made our stay really comfortable. Rooms are little small but manageable

The staff was very cooperative and welcoming! They accommodate us nicely and make sure that we have a nice time at the hotel. Breakfast was really good with a variety of food. In the morning, you can enjoy the elephants' bathing as well. Besides the property, there are few souvenir shops with reasonable prices and value for the money items. A highly recommended hotel in Pinnawala!

This is easily one of the most beautiful boutique hotels I've stayed at. Recently renovated, no expense has been spared to bring the Colonial mansion back to life. The attention to detail is remarkable. All the services are extraordinary and if I ever have a special occasion in Sri Lanka it will be at the Grand Walawwa.
