The most beautiful and hospitable hotel ived visited globally , food excellent, staff superb , rooms clean . Food again I cannot rate highly enough. This hotel screams old English etiquette with a modern touch . Really one of the best hotels and I highly recommend. We are used to luxury in Dubai and this hotels service and the hotel its self didn’t disappoint!

Upon arrival we were greeted by name and received a cup of tea with the check in process fast and efficient. Suraj and Gaming were always available to help with anything we needed, likewise Yaso was our butler who was always on hand to provide water, towels etc to our room. The food was incredible, something you would expect of a 5 star hotel in London. Pushparaj the chef at the Westbury put together a wonderful festive 4 course Christmas dinner in the dining room. The service was excellent! We missed breakfast as we wanted to lie in one morning & the staff brought the breakfast to our room (waffles, pancakes, eggs, fruit) similarly if we wanted to take the pastries away they would box them up for us.

This cottage stay was everything I could have hoped for! Perched in the hills, it offered breathtaking views that were a treat to wake up to every morning. The serene atmosphere made it the perfect escape from city life. The breakfast was absolutely delicious—fresh, hearty, and full of local flavors. Ask for the Sri Lankan breakfast; it was amazing!! The cottage itself was cozy, clean, and well-maintained, with thoughtful touches that made it feel like home. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with amazing scenery and tasty meals, this is the spot. Highly recommend!

Roshan and his family are lovely people. The first night I arrived they were celebrating a birthday party and invited me to join and also eat their food. I drank arack and danced the night away. I couldn't walk for days after that and had a hangover the next day but it was all worth it. The room itself is cosy and the bed comfortable. If you want a nice friendly host family this is the one.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Croft Cottage! The property is a stunning British-style 3-storey villa, beautifully designed and immaculately maintained. The location is excellent, making it both peaceful and convenient. The cottage has lovely common areas that make it feel warm and inviting, perfect for relaxing together. All facilities are top-notch, thoughtfully provided, and everything worked seamlessly. A special mention and heartfelt thanks to Taranga, the housekeeper, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable in every way. His attention to detail, hospitality, and genuine care made the experience exceptional — he truly elevated our time here. Overall, Croft Cottage is the perfect blend of charm, comfort, and luxury. Highly recommended, and we would absolutely love to return!

Staying at Bluechip Summer Bungalow was absolutely magical. The location, right in the middle of a tea plantation, and the beautiful British-style house surrounded by gardens make you feel part of Nuwara Eliya’s history. Our room was huge, with the most comfortable bed we had during our trip in Sri Lanka. The staff was extremely attentive and professional and the food was simply outstanding.They even arranged a walk for us to Lovers Leap waterfall, which is easily accessible from the hotel and was a perfect experience. A truly authentic stay in “Little England”. Highly recommended for anyone looking for charm, comfort, and a genuine atmosphere.

Wonderful place to stay and good place to explore. We went to Lover's Leap Waterfalls, Gregory lake, Sita Temple, Hanuman Temple, Labookellie Tea Centre, Ambewela Farms, Victoria Park, Hakgala Botanical Gardens and Grand Hotel.

Nuwara Eliya’s weather is quite different from most of Sri Lanka due to its high elevation. Unlike the tropical heat in the lowlands, it has a cool, misty, and unpredictable climate. Temperatures can drop below 10°C at night, and rain showers are common even during sunny days. Before traveling, it’s best to: Check the weather forecast for rain, fog, or sudden temperature drops. Pack warm clothing, as evenings and mornings can be chilly. Carry an umbrella or light raincoat, since showers are frequent. Plan outdoor activities (like visiting tea estates, Horton Plains, or Gregory Lake) for clearer parts of the day. “We visited on rainy days, which made it impossible to see the main attractions, as most of the time it was foggy.”

If you want to experience the coldest weather in Sri Lanka, Nuwara Eliya is the place to be. Often called “Little England” due to its colonial charm, this hill town offers beautiful scenery and plenty of attractions. Gregory Lake is a highlight, perfect for a relaxing walk or a boat ride. Having your own transport (ideally a 4x4) makes it easier to explore the surrounding hills and hidden routes. The town also has great spots to eat, drink, and enjoy warm hospitality. Don’t miss a visit to one of the colonial hotels that once hosted many famous figures, including Queen Elizabeth II in 1954. A must-visit destination in the heart of Sri Lanka’s hills!

Excellent place to visit in Sri Lanka.

Excellent place to visit in Sri Lanka. Very clean city with very good roads, nice parks and a lake. Beautiful waterfalls are within short distance. Excellent hotels and restaurants. Very friendly people.

Great place to cool down in the highlands.

Great place to cool down in the highlands. We actually use blankets, coats and hot showers in June, which was a very welcomed change to the scorching hot cultural triangle and beaches. The town is very close (5km) from one of the ends of the very underrated Pekoe Trail, a 300 km, 22 stages long distance hiking trail, that is very interesting to see not only the tea plantations but the life it rural communities. Also very interesting is to observe the many small, commercial vegetables gardens that are scattered all over town. The town is 1800 mts above the sea level, and in June, their monsoon season, was rainy. Everything was incredibly lush and green, and the temperature very pleasant.

The staff was very good and friendly. They provided an excellent service. The room was very clean and good. The hotel itself gave a true nuwara eliya/victorian vibe with its thematic furniture. There was a working fireplace which was really cozy as they provided us with coffee and biscuits to enjoy beside the fireplace at night. The breakfast was also really good with good quantity and the view in the morning where we had the breakfast was amazing. It also helped that the place was close to town where we could go out and enjoy.

What a cool looking hotel. It’s close to the centre, it’s clean, the shower and bathroom are top quality. The bed is also super comfortable. But most importantly the staff. This is what makes these places. The manager on shift was so so helpful. I was only in Nuwara Eliya for a very short time (24 hours), and he made absolutely sure I had the best experience. Despite leaving at 6am he made sure I had a breakfast bag to take with me. It’s also very close to the centre.

Absolute hidden gem nestled in the cosy hills of Nuwara Eliya. 5 star hotel experience! Beds really comfortable and various chilled communal spaces to relax in. The staff were beyond lovely and went the extra mile to ensure we had a memorable stay. Extra shoutout for food and beverages, both the Sri Lankan and western food options were delicious. One of the best stays we’ve had in our month of travelling Sri Lanka.

The hotel has a nice ambiance and smells great. There was a christmas theme which was quite fun in the more cold climate and British architecture of Nuwara Eliyah. Our welcome (coffee with cake), the breakfast and dinner were all great. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They even made it possible for my boyfriend to watch football on the tv in our room. Would recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The property is comfortable, very clean, and truly beautiful. The heated bed made all the difference, as Nuwara Eliya can get quite chilly at times. Breakfast was excellent, tasty and plentiful, and the staff were always kind, attentive, and helpful. A truly pleasant stay that I would highly recommend!
