Very friendly and welcoming small hotel. Rooms are simple, clean and spacious, including the bathroom. There is a large covered balcony with superb views. We stayed 3 nights and ate in the hotel as the food is delicious and freshly made. Breakfast offers a choice of western or local food and we preferred the latter, it was so tasty. The hotel is situated downhill from the town centre, so walking there is easy from the bus or train station, but you'll need a tuk-tuk for the return if you have luggage. Also it is very quiet. What sets the hotel apart is the friendliness and service from the staff, particularly Chathura who was so attentive and helpful during our stay. Highly recommended, we really enjoyed our stay.

Amazing place and highly recommend anyone to SL to visit this hotel. Views are stunning, rooms are independent, beautifully designed and provides privacy. Staff is super nice and efficient , they give you personalized services and take care of every need, which you don't find in most of the hotel. We highly recommend this hotel! The staff is exceptional—always attentive and ready to assist with anything we needed. The food was so good, thanks to a talented chef who adapted the menu to suit our requirements. Everything was fresh and made with high-quality ingredients. Our family of 10 stayed at this hotel over Christmas, and we were all extremely satisfied and happy with our choice. The garden and swimming pool were wonderful bonuses. We initially hesitated between several cities in the tea region, but choosing Haputale turned out to be perfect. It’s a charming village with only locals and no mass tourism, offering a truly authentic experience. One morning, we woke up early, took a tuk-tuk, and visited Lipton’s Seat—it was magical! The colors and landscapes made it one of our most memorable moments in Sri Lanka. We also had the chance to take the train from Haputale station, which added to the experience. If you’re looking for a relaxing stay in the mountains, don’t hesitate—this place is perfect!

The exceptional staying exceeding all our expectations. Firstly, the hospitality our hosts- entire family. The real help and warmness we've received during our staying. It is skyhigh even by Sri Lanka standards. Secondly, the hotel is very close to the waterfall. We could depart very early and return in early evening. Our recommendation is that you book at least 3 days in Dilshan Hotel so that you can enjoy the waterfall and calmness of this location for some more time. Don't plan only one day here as on one day the waterfall may receive more visitors. We had 2 very fine days and one day with a crowd. Thirdly, the room and room was great. All very good value for money!

Everything was fine, the view is stunning, breakfast served as for 4 persons (while we have been two of us). Owners friendly and hospitable. In the evening we walked to the waterfall and had a nice dip before sleep. Location is just perfect.

Everything ! The place is amazing. It is charged with history and beautiful. You will find books and board games everywhere to enjoy by the fireplace when the sun goes down. The gardens are a dream. There are very well curated and you will be able to observe the birds nesting in the trees. And the view ! There is no words to describe it. It is breathtaking. Finally, what we enjoyed the most was the service. We are used to travel in luxury hotels and the staff of Thotalagala have nothing to envy to the most experienced staff. The food was really good and every team member was very kind and thoughtful. They gave us a free upgrade, offered us so many little attentions that I can mention everything in this comment. They are knowledgeable and flexible, they care for every little details, they are passionate about hospitality and genuinely caring about people. And at the end, that is the thing that matters. They are the one making this place feels like home and we hope to be able to visit them again.
