The facilities were clean, modern, and comfortable. Staff were friendly and willing to offer assistance. The hotel is also within an easy walk of the beach, which allowed our group to go for a refreshing early morning swim. Overall, would highly recommend!

The staff was really kind (especially with our kid). The room was nice and clean. It was close to the beach and there are a lot of restaurants and a Cargill supermarket close to it. The staff helped us to organize our transfer to Willpattu. We enjoyed the roof pool. The breakfast was exceptional.

Great place to stay in Colombo area away from city centre but close enough for easy access to city amenities, shops and restaurants. Lovely colonial era building full of charm. The terrace and pool area is unique - right on the ocean. Nothing quite like it in the Colombo area.

This Colombo (south) hotel is highly recommended for...

This Colombo (south) hotel is highly recommended for travellers. It is extremely competitively good on price and I often wonder how they make any money with the usual superb and attentive services that come with the competitive price tag! The location is definitely the MOST exotic out of ALL Colombo hotels and also, it virtually has its own train station (well nearly, as it's yards away from the building) adding to the convenience of getting to Colombo North side. The hotel keeps its beach grounds VERY CLEAN...in fact, spotless which again is superb for an older city hotel. This is MUST TRY hotel as its a genuine heritage hotel as well of about 220 years and a lovely historical back story behind the name too!

Our hotel lodge was disappointing.

Our hotel lodge was disappointing. We had to comply with what they wanted! We found an amazing guide at the beach who showed us the market, had a meal with his family and took us on a couple of tours. He made our visit here worthwhile. The beach looks lovely but swimming in sea not recommended.

My stay was quite comfortable, I felt very much at home.

My stay was quite comfortable, I felt very much at home. The staff were really friendly and super accommodating, especially James. And the host was great at checking in to see if I was okay and if I needed anything. The home is also located near the beach is amazing and close to various amenities which is great. Even With the shared kitchen and dinning area, the home still offered the needed privacy during my stay. I'd come back if I get the chance to visit Sri Lanka again

The hotel rooms needs refurbishment. Our door lock had tape on it. We had booked direct sea facing rooms but views were limited and not good .staff on duty during check in did not guide properly in this regard. The hotel needs to clearly demarkate and identify the sea facing rooms and direct sea facing rooms so that there is no confusion or doubt for the guests Breakfast is nice, sumptuous with good variety . The Governers museum is worth a look and the guide is very courteous and informative Private beach is good.

A great little hotel, stayed here on four occassions and no doubt again everytime I visit Colombo. Friendly staff, great value for money and good location, just a short walk to the beach and there is super market opposite which also has a bakery, ideal if you don't want to have breakfast at the hotel. There is a pub on the groundfloor which seems very popular always busy and you can order pizza and pasta from Arthurs Italian restaurant next door which they will serve at your table.

This little hotel was a gem of a find. The staff were just lovely and keen to do whatever they could to help. The owner was very conscientious. The rooms were exceptional, spacious lovely balcony with A/C. The breakfast was the best we experienced throughout our three week travels through S Lanka. It's only a short walk to the lovely beach. It was probably our best hotel during our stay.

Having previously stayed in many big hotels in SL this one is almost up there with them.i understand the situation is not great and not many tourists, but overall it was very comfortable loved the beds, shower, etc. Lovely staff especially the room staff.
