My favorite spot was definitely the beachfront area right in front of Paradise Beach Club – calm waves, golden sand, and perfect sunsets. I also loved Coconut Hill, just a short walk away, with its panoramic view of the ocean and palm trees. Where I Ate- Most of my meals were at the Paradise Beach Club restaurant, which offered delicious Sri Lankan curries, fresh seafood, and good international choices. For variety, Mirissa has some great little cafés and beach shacks nearby – I especially liked the fresh juices and seafood BBQs along the beach. Mum's Kitchen, Big Belly & All you can eat were equally good. Mirissa is very easy to get around. Most places are within walking distance if you’re staying near the beach. For slightly farther spots like Weligama or Galle, tuk-tuks are everywhere and quite affordable. we booked our car for the entire trip. things to do- Whale watching tours Sunset at Coconut Hill Beach hopping Surfing

Mirissa is a popular tourist destination, and one where tourism income trumps everything else - usually at the expense of the environment. So, if you’re looking for an idyllic escape to a pristine, tropical paradise, you’ll need to lower your expectations quite a bit. Unfortunately, the businesses lining the beachfront have been allowed to attempt to artificially hold back the sea, by building awful sea walls, sandbagging, etc. This has resulted in far less beach than there would naturally be. The other inescapable truth is that it’s quite polluted - mainly with discarded plastics (bottles, drinking straws, bags, etc.) and other rubbish. It really is heartbreaking to see, and it’s everywhere. Picking up a few bags of it everyday on my walks didn’t even make a dent! (This problem isn’t limited to Mirissa, by the way. It’s everywhere in Sri Lanka. Substantial regulatory change and investment in education are needed - now!) As a visitor, do your part and at least set a good example by not discarding your rubbish. On the plus side, the people are very friendly and welcoming, and there are quite a few great places to eat and enjoy a cold drink. I found the better restaurants on the main road rather than the beach. There are also plenty of lovely, small, family-run restaurants throughout the back streets that are worth seeking out.

I spent one night at a Coastal Villa in Mirissa, and it was one of my best experiences in Sri Lanka. The villa is situated in a calm and quiet area, yet it is within walking distance to both the town and the beach. The rooms are spacious, and the beds were clean and comfortable. The air conditioner functioned well during the extremely hot weather, and the staff were very helpful. Initially, we did not book the room with a meal included, but the staff were accommodating and provided a variety of delicious Sri Lankan dishes on short notice. I decided to extend my stay, and the villa staff easily fulfilled my request. I recommend Coastal Villa to anyone seeking a place to stay in Mirissa.

Mirissa was the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. Beautiful beaches, amazing sunsets, and a laid-back vibe but also plenty to explore, like whale watching and surfing. A great place to slow down and enjoy Sri Lanka’s south coast.

Beautiful, beach town with lots of restaraunts and spa,s and many beaches to choose from, my favourites being; Mirissa Beach, Coconut tree hill beach, kurumba beach. Kurumba Beach club is great for clean, tasty food.

Mirissa is an over rated tourist destination.

Mirissa is an over rated tourist destination. Overdeveloped with too many motels crammed into a small area and crowded beach ruin the setting. More popular with younger party generation rather than relaxing.

Avsolute gem of a hotel, located in a prime location in Mirissa. You have the beach at the back of the hotel with mesmerising views (don't miss the sunset from their beach bar/restaurant), and less than 15 mins walk to Coconut Tree Hill. Staff were superb, especially Nadeesha (I hope I spelt that right) on the front desk who makes you feel right at home from the minute you sit down for check in. Would absolutely stay again!

My Family and My friend's family are staying. this stop hotel was better than we expected. the beach is close. An independent environment. Kind hotel staff incredibly quick and smiling. very clean. good rooms big the mattress is comfortable. Good Air- Conditioner. Facilities Super. Breakfast is excellent. A buffet. very Reasonable for the amount paid. Good Wi-Fi. We are Coming Back Wavelength Hotel Mirissa.

Perfect serene setting for relaxing after our 2 weeks travelling around Sri Lanka. Excellent end to our honeymoon. Staff were very friendly and helpful with local recommendations (including the recipe for the banana loaf). Quiet intimate location by the beach with great food at reasonable prices. A short tuk tuk into Mirissa which was easily arranged by the staff at the hotel.

A beautiful and peaceful hotel. Staff were amazing. Hotel is so peaceful yet so close to Mirissa beach. Free tuk tuk service was great and the breakfast was always fresh and delicious. A wonderful hotel and absolutely worth the money. Would highly recommend.

Excellent location. Best view hotel in the vicinity. You get a pvt shack with a beach facing view. Its clean and a bit secluded but nice option for a day if you are in mirissa. Also its walking distance from the coconut tree hill.
