I stayed 4 nights at Moringa Mirissa and it was a wonderful experience. On my birthday they surprised me and made me really happy – such a kind gesture! The staff are very helpful and friendly, breakfast was tasty, and the rooms are clean and modern. The garden is beautiful, and I especially loved the unlimited cold water. A perfect place to stay in Mirissa!

Great location with walking distance to the beach and main road in town. Rooms are well equipped with everything you need. There is also a fridge. If you want you can also take a hot shower. The A/C is working well and there is fan also if you dont want A/C during the night. Breakfast is just great! We loved it. We extended the stay for two more nights during our stay without any problem. The host family is verly lovely and take care of you. They help with restaurant and where to go suggestions. We would book here agsin! Thank you so much for everything!

The host family were so incredibly kind. The room was lovely with all the amenities listed. The location was perfect for me. It was a quick walk to the beach but on a quiet road. Would very happily stay there again. Because the family have so many tall mature trees it is also a lot cooler in the garden which was a welcome treat on hot days.

Evening! It's the perfect place for a couples holiday. The beach is beautiful and clean. The facilities are gorgeous. It's quiet and peaceful. Breakfast is delicious! Big beautiful room with a lovely terrace. It definitely surpassed our expectations and we plan to come back. Also the staff were amazing, warm, friendly and always happy to help and accommodate us, from the manager to the cleaning staff. Congratulations on such a great hotel!!!

It was like a fairytale to stay at this hotel. The rooms are lovely, the garden is lovely, the staff is lovely, the food was great, we could see the turtles from the garden. A little further down the beach it was easy to get into the ocean and swim with the turtles. Truly an amazing place to stay.

The hotel management are not good to deal with and I would not recommend this place at all. It looks pretty on the outside but full of problems and poor design, unsafe and unhygienic aspects that are a major concern. Hiring hot water shower that has no safety option even when it is not on high hot water setting, it can burn. The deluxe room we were offered has no windows at all and a dingy hole with no natural light or ventilation but advertised as having an outdoor dining room. It is falsely advertised to mislead people an we refused to stay in the room and had a mattress in the sea view room for which they charged us half the room rate when we didn’t even have a ton, just a mattress an they failed to even provide a towel. Their service is horrendous - stay away from this place and don’t be misled by the pretty photos like we’re. Even beach there not safe to swim and too far from Mirissa main beach so there is really nothing going for this place except the superficial looks.

The beach is attractive with palm trees and beach bars, however it is very narrow and at high tide there is very little sand available for relaxing. The waves are quite ferocious at times even though the weather was calm and only the strongest and most confident swimmers were able to swim past the breakers and surf, also beware of the jet ski which operates from the area where you access the beach from the hotel, this was an additional menace.

My favorite spot was definitely the beachfront area right in front of Paradise Beach Club – calm waves, golden sand, and perfect sunsets. I also loved Coconut Hill, just a short walk away, with its panoramic view of the ocean and palm trees. Where I Ate- Most of my meals were at the Paradise Beach Club restaurant, which offered delicious Sri Lankan curries, fresh seafood, and good international choices. For variety, Mirissa has some great little cafés and beach shacks nearby – I especially liked the fresh juices and seafood BBQs along the beach. Mum's Kitchen, Big Belly & All you can eat were equally good. Mirissa is very easy to get around. Most places are within walking distance if you’re staying near the beach. For slightly farther spots like Weligama or Galle, tuk-tuks are everywhere and quite affordable. we booked our car for the entire trip. things to do- Whale watching tours Sunset at Coconut Hill Beach hopping Surfing

Mirissa is a popular tourist destination, and one where...

Mirissa is a popular tourist destination, and one where tourism income trumps everything else - usually at the expense of the environment. So, if you’re looking for an idyllic escape to a pristine, tropical paradise, you’ll need to lower your expectations quite a bit. Unfortunately, the businesses lining the beachfront have been allowed to attempt to artificially hold back the sea, by building awful sea walls, sandbagging, etc. This has resulted in far less beach than there would naturally be. The other inescapable truth is that it’s quite polluted - mainly with discarded plastics (bottles, drinking straws, bags, etc.) and other rubbish. It really is heartbreaking to see, and it’s everywhere. Picking up a few bags of it everyday on my walks didn’t even make a dent! (This problem isn’t limited to Mirissa, by the way. It’s everywhere in Sri Lanka. Substantial regulatory change and investment in education are needed - now!) As a visitor, do your part and at least set a good example by not discarding your rubbish. On the plus side, the people are very friendly and welcoming, and there are quite a few great places to eat and enjoy a cold drink. I found the better restaurants on the main road rather than the beach. There are also plenty of lovely, small, family-run restaurants throughout the back streets that are worth seeking out.

I spent one night at a Coastal Villa in Mirissa, and it was...

I spent one night at a Coastal Villa in Mirissa, and it was one of my best experiences in Sri Lanka. The villa is situated in a calm and quiet area, yet it is within walking distance to both the town and the beach. The rooms are spacious, and the beds were clean and comfortable. The air conditioner functioned well during the extremely hot weather, and the staff were very helpful. Initially, we did not book the room with a meal included, but the staff were accommodating and provided a variety of delicious Sri Lankan dishes on short notice. I decided to extend my stay, and the villa staff easily fulfilled my request. I recommend Coastal Villa to anyone seeking a place to stay in Mirissa.

Mirissa was the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure.

Mirissa was the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. Beautiful beaches, amazing sunsets, and a laid-back vibe but also plenty to explore, like whale watching and surfing. A great place to slow down and enjoy Sri Lanka’s south coast.

Lovely new hotel in a beautiful location. Really convenient for Mirissa and the local beaches. Staff fantastic, every single one of them. Attentive (but not too attentive), helpful, polite, interested in the kids and just a great team! Pools lovely, kids loved the pool table and darts! Massage was amazing too. Food and drink also great. We also enjoyed watching the monkeys on our balcony.

Close to Mirissa town and the beach, only a 3 minute walk. The hotel is modern, smart, very clean and run by lovely people. It overlooks the jungle at the back and you can see parrots, peacocks and monkeys from your balcony and the pool.
