This small lodge is a great base for bird and nature lovers. It is about 2km from the entrance of the world famous Singaraja Rain Forrest. You can even see the endemic famous Sri Lanka Blue Magpie in the early morning on the hotel grounds. We enjoyed the food. The owner can arrange a guide for the birding tour. We loved the tour with the guide.

The lodge itself is amazing, really stylish, with an incredible swimming pool, and matches perfect with the wild forest. But for us the best of this place is the team. We stayed there during Ditwah cyclone, and Lasith, Amal, Hansen and all team without exception were incredible. We could stay one more night safe and they did their best to help us in everything and informing about the sad situation the island was living constantly. We could leave the hotel without problem the day after and return home safe. There are many amazing lodges in the world, this is one for sure, but what really makes an stay unforgetable is when you have a problem and the hotel team helps you to solve it with efficiency and a big smile. Jansens' lodge is the place. We would like to say Thank You once to all of you again and for sure we will come back to see you again and stay in this lovely lodge

Very happy with our stay here. This is a family-run lodge so it's not super fancy, but the hosts make you feel so welcome especially by cooking so so many dishes for breakfast and dinner. Easily the best home cooking I've had in Sri Lanka. The hosts are super nice, and the room has an amazing view on the river edge (as per the name), and you can swim in the river, which is nice. It is a close walk to Doranella entrance and the location is secluded from the main roads and village so it's great if you're looking for more privacy.

The Location is very beautiful, situated in the jungle in a small village. The family was incredibly kind and made our stay feel like home. We had delicious homemade, traditional dinner and breakfast. The house is close to the entrance to Sinharaja Forest and they recommended us a great Guide who spotted lots of animals and showed us many ayurverdic healing plants. I can‘t recommend this place enough :)

This wasn't our first stay, so we obviouly like this place. The manager Anand couldn't have been kinder. He looked after us like super VIPs. He was everywhere making sure that we were fine. A big thank you to him. We forgot a swim suit and he offered to send it by courier service to our next hotel, which he did. The hotel itself is small and not for everyone. The rooms needs a complete rework - they don't do this place justice. They are in a poor state. But the location is incredible and I hope, this will never change - please never cut ANY of the trees! This is the biggest asset- the jungle and all its noises, the beautiful light filtering through the canopy.

Best expirence you will have in sri lanka ! First of all the house itself is a peace of art ! You can see the hostes think of every small detail and alot ofoney was invested to make sure gusstes are happy ! From the uniqe decoration to the tje built of the house and matireals of huge stones and wood all over rhe house huge speaker system the mosf beautofull jungle view i had ever seen ! And most importent the hosts ! Lovely couple that you can feel the love and hospitalety they give to the guestes from high qualify diverss meales made by a chef how is the owner to the rides trips and all requesr we had they did more then we ever expected and with a huge smile every timr !! Surly the besf faciliys best foid best view and best hospitalety i had ever recived ! No words will be enoghu ! Thank you jani and malu ! We are for sure going to be your guestes soon !
