Best place to stay when you go to Bundala! The cottages are super beautiful and the location is insane. It’s right by the lake where you can see so much wildlife. Chami and his wife are so incredibly friendly, they made our stay unforgettable. Also highly recommend doing a safari with Chami - he’s so knowledgeable and passionate about wildlife.

It is a simple hotel that does everything it needs. The host makes a delicious buffet lunch every day. I used this hotel because I had to get up early in the morning to go to Bundala National Park.

The location was picturesque, staff was super friendly and attentive, the food was delicious, and the stay was really comfortable with all the comforts that you'd expect in any good hotel. As a minor detail, I loved the fragrance of the toiletries provided. This place gives you a great value for the money you spend on it.

Breakfast was very nice. Staff was friendly, and we got a full Sri Lankan meal. They also accommodated our requests and were very attentive.

Everything was super good! Nice hosts, quiet place, comfortable room , kitchen and private balcony. Hosts treated us everyday different goodies) Highly recommend this place

I truly recommend House of Freedom. It is a perfect place if you want to experience the local culture and see how the locals live. I've spent 24 hours with Isuru. We had a trip around Bundala, a motor night safari and morning birds watching. Additionally lunch in his family house and evening barbecue. The house and room are humble, but everything is clean and the hospitality is amazing. The sourounding is breathtaking. No tourists around. It was an unfargetable experience!

This room is clean, spacious, and equipped with air conditioning. Nestled in a small garden, it features a lovely veranda in front and an observation deck on top. The host, Ravindu, is incredibly kind and welcoming. Ravindu prepared a delicious traditional breakfast for us. Conveniently located across from Bundala National Park, the guesthouse offers stunning views of the expansive lagoon from the observation deck.

We enjoyed our stay at Malala Retreat a lot thanks to the fantastic team and the dreamy surroundings. Tucked away in a beautiful corner of Hambantota it's the perfect base to explore the national parks around, or just chill by the pool and watch the time go by. The food was also excellent. The team always made sure to cater to our preferences and both, Sri Lankan as well as Western dishes tasted delicious.

The Hosts were excellent, I had breakfast and evening meals at very reasonable rates, I also had some laundry done overnight, it came back clean and dry (again at a very reasonable rate). The location was fabulous right next to the park - Note this property is in the countryside, its beauty but not many restaurants close by.... This was NOT an issue for me. I loved being able to view and enjoy the nature close by farmers walking their buffalo out to pasture and back home, the views from the roof top - I also went on a bird watch safari with the host which was excellent

Our recent three-day stay at Shangri-La Hotel Hambantota in Sri Lanka was simply extraordinary. The variety of activities and leisure options available were impressive—whether relaxing by the adults-only pool, enjoying the state-of-the-art gym, or simply exploring the expansive grounds, there was never a dull moment. Walking through the beautifully maintained golf course was an absolute delight, as we encountered numerous stunning animals in their natural habitat, adding an enchanting touch to our stay. On our last day, we discovered the Ulpatha Clubhouse, which provided an amazing experience and a fantastic atmosphere to relax and enjoy sports at their finest. Dining at Bojunhala restaurant was a highlight of our experience. Without exaggeration, it offered the best food we had in Sri Lanka—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Special thanks to the outstanding staff who consistently went above and beyond. The manager, Tharindi, was exceptionally attentive, ensuring our stay was perfect in every detail. Our housekeeper, Rohana, provided impeccable service—always efficient, attentive, and friendly. Moreover, the pool bar staff made our relaxing afternoons truly enjoyable. The vastness of the property offers something special for everyone, making it an ideal destination for both adults and families with children. The sense of space and tranquility is unmatched, ensuring comfort and privacy throughout. We highly recommend Shangri-La Hambantota for an unforgettable Sri Lankan experience.
