Riswan and his family are so hospitable and proud to introduce you to wonderful Sri Lankan food, traditional life and wildlife. A very peaceful setting next to the river and rice paddy fields. Monkeys played in the tree beside my treehouse, and I could watch fishermen patiently catch fish from my balcony. Everyone is so friendly. I took a nice walk to a wetland area just 15 mins walk and saw birds, monkeys and a mongoose. Riswan will arrange everything for you - meals, transport, food, safari, its all very easy, just let him know what you want. A very special thanks to "Auntie" for her amazing coffee, so no worries if you crave caffeine, strong, black, sweet and delicious.

the staff is extremely kind, service is impeccable. We had to stay an extra three days due to cyclone Ditwah and floods in the area. Taru is the best place to be in isolation, we felt safe, and were taken very good care of, even though staff was busy looking after the property and reaching out to their families and the local community.

We had a wonderful time here. The room was very comfortable and clean, with a private pool and a beautiful river view. The bed was super cozy and the AC worked perfectly. Breakfast was excellent and really delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Highly recommend this place if you're visiting Wilpattu!

The Backwaters lodge has everything that a naturelover is looking for. We really had the best time here in the middle of nowhere close to the Wilpattu National Park. The staff is really helpfull and very friendly, the rooms are right into nature but still have the luxury of having warm water and AC, great and an extended breakfast and dinner, I can go on and on. If you want to go on a safari at Wilpattu they can arrange a private jeep for you (which is a must do ofcourse). Further to fill in your time you can just hang out at the beautifull chillspots on the ponds or in the jungle or you could go kayaking with the kayaks available at the lodge. We wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy the lodge a little more.

what a fantastic time we spent there!Coming with my 6 years old son and we really felt at home. The staff (Sofrin, Hassan, Rachani) helped us in any way there and did whatever possible to make us confortable. Thanks again guys, we will definitely come back there when we will be in Sri Lanka.

Sabina and her partner were such lovely hosts! They were very helpful with any request we had and they also cooked such a delicious food!!! The room was cozy and clean. Overall, we loved our experience at this place! I wish we can go back :)

Loved the location, massive room with a huge balcony overlooking the ocean. We wake up to the sound of the wild birds and ocean waves bashing on the beach. Good facilities with a big room and extra big bed. Lovely Sunset a around 530 - 6pm Great location for kite surfing, excellent food and super friendly staff, lovely pool, we'll be back soon with our friends.
