High-end hotel in Astana. Friendly English-speaking personnel. Excellent rooms, Olympic size swimming pool, great hamam and sauna, 24 hours fitness room. TV with CNN and BBC programs+ a number of programs in the different languages- italian, french, arabic, turkish, kazakh, russian...Phantastic location in the middle of the town. Shower and bath, high quality sleeping arrangements. And yes- Nescafe coffee-machine with 4-5 different types of coffee and unlimited amount of Turan water bottles. A great view from a room of great size. Will stay again.

Astana is a growing city, the country's capital.

Astana is a growing city, the country's capital. There is an older section (east side) where you see old buildings and shops and the newest (west) side where they have modern buildings. Taxi's are cheap (for a US citizen) but unknown for how long. The Airport Currency exchange office is open 24/7 and has the best rates I ever seen. They speak more Russian in Astana compared to Almaty. Download both language packs for Russian & Kazakh, but almost everything is written in Russian; on food packages, labels, menus, paperwork etc... and there are duel language street signs (no english). If you are able download the 2gis app to get map & transport information and taxi service. I can only use Yandex and I had major issues with my CC while trying to pay for taxi service. I made friends and they gave me ideas where to go. There is a flea market style mall: Astanalyk Bazaar. is a big place with lots of small vendors and gold & electronic shops and food sellers. My new friends had me try some traditional kazak stuff. I suggest to go get a new phone; cheapest samsung was the A07 for about $110 to the modern iPhone for about $1500 from what i saw. the iPhone takes sim cards. I also got a KZ sim card and paid for a 30 day service BUT you can get a free sim card at the passport control station when you enter the country. Just be sure your phone can use 2 sim cards, many of their phones has a 2 sim card slot, is why i got a new phone.

A. A combination of European countries and Asian countries. B. Well developed infra and other systems like transport equal to European countries standards. C. Totally plain land on which city is built D. Modern buildings with European style architecture. Simultaneously many architectural marvel buildings, monuments etc E. European vibes at Asian( indian) costs-- food, public transport, cabs, accomodation etc F. Very friendly people more similar to asian culture G. Somewhere you will find some bad culture like harassment by taxi drivers, bargaining etc. But negligible. H. Language is a big issue. Very few can speak English. Anyway, google translator helps. 2GIS and Yandex map very helpful to navigate. I. Public transport using Transcard is very cheap. J. Indian restaurants and only vegetarian options are very limited. K. Should travel when weather is good. Apr, May, Sep, Oct look ideal. Too hot summers and too cold winters. L. Spending time in the evening is must. City lights up. Quay water front, Nurzhol Blvd,Khan Shatyr are must visit in evenings. M. For best coverage of city use combination of taxi and public transport. Excellent buses N. Astanalyk market in Saken Seyfullin street is a gem for purchase of clothes, shoes, jewellery, electronic goods etc. 5 floor excellent market. Did not feel any cheating. Not much bargaining too. But expect discounts.

Takes a bit of time to find places, the city is laid out with wide open spaces between blocks of apartments, plenty of green and plenty of walking areas. Once you get your bearings its got plenty to see and do. Yandex taxi service is far better than in Atyrau with our longets wait just 2 minutes and good prices

The taxis are really expensive and because of the bus system and traffic congestion, you'll end up at your destination in roughly the same amount of time if you take the bus. The lights at night are amazing to see on the buildings but parks and museums are the best during the day. When it's raining, make sure to walk far from the road where the cars drive, some motorists make it a sport to try and splash you or they are just that rude in not driving carefully. Most activities worth doing are near the city park, Khan Satir, and National Museum, so take a day and explore each section to get the most out of the stay. Many hidden gems are around when you travel that way. Unfortunately it was not possible to visit the Bazaar, but I heard great things from my hotel.

The Kazakh people are so kind, hospitable, accommodating, considerate and friendly. The weather is good, we have our meals in Astana mall food court, to Daididau restaurant to Paradise restaurant the foods are great and delicious and it's affordable. we can go around easily, the service of their taxi are on time so you will not wait for a long time. I only stayed a short time in Astana and I love the place so I plan to visit again in the future to room around more places and views there.

A well planned Capital with wonderful architecture!

A well planned Capital with wonderful architecture! The city looks Fabulous due to synchronized architecture! The view from Bayterek tower was good! The Miniature Park shows scale models of all the important buildings in Astana as well as Kazakhstan. It also has the models of homes in other Eurasian countries. The Palace of Peace has good info about wedding attires in other countries as well as idols of other religions. The Hazrat Sultan Mosque and The Orthodox church are both fabulously decorated with rich colours.

I stayed at the property for my Ironman triathlon race in Astana. Two of my friends had booked separate rooms as well on the first level. The rooms were spacious, appropriately equipped, and not noisy. The location is within walking distance from grocery stores, a bus stop, coffee shops, a bank, and restaurants. The staff was supportive and warm. The Astana triathlon park is a 10-15 minute walk or a 5-minute bicycle ride away. Additionally, the hotel arranged a cab for pick-up from the airport, which was very helpful.

Very clean place with friendly and helpful staff. My room overlooked the river. The hotel is located ight next to the river with a popular Cafe Boom right next door, where you can have an early morning breakfast too. The room had all the essentials like bathroom, shower, toilet, desk, chair, single sofa, coffee table, tv, fridge, etc. its the cheapest place you can find in Astana (Apart from hostels). Its location is awesome!
